Yeah, it’s like Torchinsky hasn’t ever heard the word “Doghouse” before.

+1 cone.

Everybody ragging on the Capri but praising the Miata is missing one HUGE fact:

Actually, I thought the trucks from Logan were genius, since they expanded on the whole “container shipping” trend. In the concept art, you can see how the whole thing was built to be a “sled” for a standard container to snap into. The “autonomous” module at the front, etc. was very much in line with the

>The main question I have is: how young is too young?

1st thing I look at is the seats. Ugh, not the sports package seats. Those non-sports seats are SO uncomfortable.

Podcast is the way to go. Weekends are the one time I try not to be tied to a car or radio for long periods (unless I’m turning wrenches), so the podcast lets me fold it into my weekday commutes, etc.

Fun tidbit: I remember reading the abstract of some research that demonstrated, via FMRI, that for most people, when looking at and identifying cars (particularly by the front view), the same portion of the brain is activated as would be active when identifying faces.

Sure, but my point is that “100% solar” is achievable with MUCH less than that. A good DC compressor fridge averages <50AH a day (~2A/hour x 24hrs). Given an 8-hour solar day, that means you’d need < 80watts to offset the fridge. (80w/12v = 6.6A x 8 hours = 52AH)

If/when I want more power, will probably switch to a slightly larger fixed panel on the roof, then supplement with a folding panel that can be maneuvered around as needed.

Look, he already had the answer to this equation. Just ‘cause the wife is gone, doesn’t mean you can’t still be a Subaru guy.

It always depends on loads and sun, of course, but building a “100%” solar system is very doable, especially if you have that much weight to play with. My rig runs a DC compressor fridge/freezer, LED lighting, water pump, and charges the cameras/laptops on a (relatively) small house battery and solar panel setup.

I scored a nice fleece with the Subaru “WRX” logo embroidered on it after getting invited to a launch event for the car back in 2000 or 2001. Don’t care what you think, I still bleed World-Rally Blue, so I wear that thing all the time.

Mark Whalberg and the Italian Job crew seen whistling as they drove away in Minis...

Agreed. I mean, it’s sort of already covered by the Rx for “Watermelon + Lime + Chili Powder + Salt”, but Tajín is so much easier.

I say Jalopnik should deputize you as an on-scene reporter. Go knock on a door and get an interview!

Also not discussed: The relative “weaknesses” of MP3 vs other formats (audio quality and compression) aren’t actually a huge impact vs. the acquisition-cost for everyone to convert to another format.

Articles like this are why the Miata RF is at least 60lbs heavier than it needs to be.

A couple of counter-points:

Alternative: Eat the vanquished.
