I didn’t say it was worth the cost, simply that the engine in the car is unique compared to other BMWs.

It was stroked to 4.4 liters so while yes it was still an S65 it was a unique version of it.

The M3 did have a bespoke motor. No other BMW ever had it.

I just shot this yesterday. It’s an M2 with M Performance parts, including a full carbon fiber hood, roof, front fenders, and rear trunk. So if you want to talk about light weight...

I always liked the first gen Avenger - it had the back of a Stealth, the interior of an Eclipse, and the worst engine out of the Mitsu / Chrysler mashup. I was shock how much was shared with my 3000GT on the inside.

I basically just shoot #M3s all day.

They are not the same engine. They are related.

I’ve shot here before, it’s very popular. But these are just...eh?

I once read an F-14 pilot describe ejecting as “Not fun, not for everyone, but clearly better than the alternative.”

I have a plan to do this exact thing one day.

This. Well said.

Thank you for this Patrick, it remains my favorite all-time car, above even my E92 M3.

You’re right - but they are doing this to protect themselves. BMW can make a bad electric car, but they’d never make a bad 3/5/7 Series. If let’s say, a 3 Series i was for sale and flopped, the Germans would be very upset. A bad i3 however, will soon fade form memory.

Why is this car lambasted? It’s a hatch, and looks as good as the 5 Series I think. It’s beautiful inside and drives well. I dig it.

Wow that’s worse. Woof.

You’re spot on. And it’s not only projecting naval power, but also not needing to rely on anyone else to be able to get where we’re going. There were many times, when needing access to the Middle East, we would be denied use of a countries air base, or air space.

A sports car is an “I love myself” ode to the company that makes it. It means they are doing well enough to be able to afford spending both time and money on such a vanity project. Honda, Toyota, Nissan...they’ve all eaten their veggies and produced cars for the masses that have sold well, so they get the fancy toys.

I just sold that one last week - will look into the G80 once it arrives.

Whoooaaa - I proposed to my wife right near there too!

Chart House parking lot right? Always a good scene.
