I own a 118i hatchback I bought new, and I can tell you, it’s not that. I love my little car, but the base interior quality is nothing special, especially the seats, and the stereo is also nothing to write home about. My brothers’ Golf Wagon is better equipped.

It is well known that Enzo Ferrari had contempt for the majority of the buyers of the road cars that bore his name. His sale to FIAT was basically so he could stop dealing with them altogether. If SUV’s were the thing back then, he’d be making and selling a few thousand of some version of them. Luckily they weren’t.

I love Ferrari, I hate SUV’s, but let’s not kid ourselves: if tall cars with stupid names and weirdly impractical design were the thing back when Enzo was alive, he’d be building and selling them in order to go racing. That’s all that mattered to him. “Purists” don’t like that.
