I thought the entire article was about how the seed the puzzles are randomized on is determinante and thus not actually random.

Because the point of competitive speedruns is that they should be doable by any joe that hasn’t even played the game before?

Seriously. Let’s pretend that instead of publishing this info Sh2_luck had decided to be a speedrunner themselves. Is there ANYTHING indicating that them using the knowledge they had of the game

1. Unless you have proof that his statements above are lies the information he received, he received LEGALLY.

“that sharing non-public information from a private company is totally a crime unless you can show the information is “of benefit to the greater public.”

A company doesn’t have a say in the matter unless the person distributing those leaks received them illegally i.e. via actual laws being broken. A company is not a judge, or a law enforcement officer, or a lawmaker. A company doesn’t decide what is allowed or not.

Until you can point to an actual law having been broken he’s done nothing that a thousands of journalists before him haven’t done in reporting on the truth. It may shock you, but “Corporate Policy” isn’t law and it isn’t binding to anyone who hasn’t actually agreed to being bound by it.

I’m not going to get into attempts at moving the goalposts. If you honestly can’t tell the difference between your “average” everyday conservative who isn’t a racist/sexist/fascist asshole and someone like Alex Jones, then it’s probably safe to say that you just need to look at where Alex is standing relative to you

Regardless of whether you were offended by that joke, I feel sorry for you. Genuinely. Because you are such a perfect example of someone who is completely oblivious to the world around them and their impact on it. If only you weren’t so in love with yourself you’d might be perceived as a better person than you are

The the FF franchise is pretty much the Saints Row of movies. It started out being a grim’ish’ real’ish’ drama and with each successive iteration getting more and more outlandish and disconnected from reality until the entire premise has painted itself into a corner from which it can’t escape.

As far as I am aware Valve is still wholey owned by Gabe and the remainder of Valve’s employees. Unlike a certain other company where 40% of its stock was purchased recently by the Chineses megacorp....

That’s an awful lot of words to say “Well in an industry with EA and Activision leading it, being a horrible company is par for the course, so you don’t have an excuse to complain”, especially when that’s exactly when it’s most important to complain.

Extra Extra! White libertarian male has suddenly discovered that being called bad things is hurtful when it happens to him after spending the past decade calling people bad things because they weren’t white libertarian males! Expects emotional support from all involved.

Really? Tell that to GOG. Or better yet, tell it to EA, or Ubisoft, or Blizzard, or Bethesda, or Activision. All of whom have managed to somehow establish and maintain digital storefronts selling their games during this time of ‘virtual monopoly’ on online PC game sales.

Not at all, I agree Steam needs competition. While I don’t own as many games on GOG as I do on Steam, that’s more due to the age of my Steam account and the amount of time GOG has been around. I’d love to have been able to include Epic into the mix. But I’m not going to as long as they behave the way they are.

When it’s a blatant attempt at exclusivity that has all the hallmarks of only being offered till you have replaced your competition on the throne being bankrolled by a company with that exact history of doing business?

I haven’t ever owned any of the Xbox line of consoles.

Don’t worry, bought the tub of lube off Amazon, it’ll be slippery for a good long while.

Welcome to the nation founded by people who were so uptight they were kicked out of England. There is a reason why we are the only country without a state religion that still managed to pass a Prohibition act.

If it were about convenience, I’d agree. But the reason I’m against the EGS is less about how it directly impacts me and more about how their business practices will shape the future of the industry.

I’m sorry but as an U.S. citizen I refuse to allow anyone use Alex Jones as the yardstick with which to determine if someone is controversial or not. Those examples are on wrong end of the spectrum to be at all useful for comparison. And to put it bluntly, looking at the works of these two it is entirely informed to
