@FlawedHero: I'm with you. The cheese-filled chicken nuggets my sister used to eat also does that to me. Doesn't help that she liked to eat that part first.

@Melde: Just in case anyone was wondering, turns out you can start a service with startService(), and then also use onBind to get to it. Now the only problem is if a service doesn't have anything bound to it, it self destructs instead of going on its own. One step further, at least.

@Billy_McSkintos: LH did a Top Five a couple months ago on sites to do just that (with bonus points for mobile apps). You can see it at [lifehacker.com]

@Anonymous: Yeah, was considering that. Tbh though, LH is a lot less intimidating. And was worth a shot.

Alright, question for those Android coding experts out there:

@GHDave: I got a BigSkinny Taxicat wallet last year. While it isn't fancy - being made of nylon rather than leather - it's small and light, and stays thin with the few cards and cash I keep in it, which is what I wanted. Granted, most of the time it's in my backpack rather than pocket, but still. Probably isn't for

@jw: I'm behind the curve, only started using it a few months ago, and don't know why I didn't use it sooner. Though for LH I just look for a few tags, and check the main site anyway for other interesting articles.

@NoggenFogger: Yes, I suppose it is, but I like to look at the bright side of things. And yes, mom got it with a picture aimed towards me, so it's all good. I'm very hard to buy gifts for, anyway.

You know, I never had a problem with couch-tracking on my old optical mouse. Then it died and I got an laser one (Logitech M705) and it isn't able to. But yay for getting a mousepad for Christmas!

@Hasteur: Obligatory xkcd reference.

@Fierock: Like you mentioned, rooting can fix your crap-app problem. Another option is to use a third party launcher like LauncherPro or ADW.Launcher, which have the option of hiding apps in the drawer (they don't actually touch the files, just if they're displayed). Likewise, you could root and flash a little mod

@TheFu: Oh, I see .< I've always been terrible at making quick decisions. Researching to death is more my style.

@TheFu: Oh dang, thanks for all the research and deal link! Still unsure if I'm actually going to get one yet (I have a hard time giving up anything) but I'll definitely keep that one in mind.

@dieriding: Little to no cell reception is one of the worst things for the battery. Many widgets and/or things updating based on the web a lot are also major culprits.

@dragonislander: I didn't get a screwdriver, but I did get a nice hammer. Mom's been slowly giving me tools (and a nice toolbag) over time so I'll have a good stash by the time I move out. My favorite thing in there is of course, the set of tiny screwdrivers that I often use on my computer.

@Tsylord: I agree with what everyone else is saying (and good to know that process increases your credit score, hope mine's doing well then) and add that if you're worried about the number being stolen, your bank's website may have alarm triggers that can be set off. For instance, I have it set up so it texts me if

@Melde: The only laptop I've ever owned is my current one, a Dell e1505. I know many people hate Dell, but I've honestly never had a problem with them (note that the one time I needed to contact CS I did it through chat, so it was perfect). So two I've been considering are the XPS line and Alienware, although the

Woohoo, finally Open Thread Day!

I'm not shy, exactly - more afraid of being wrong and people thinking I'm an idiot. Probably the same advice, though, just keep doing it and it gets easier. Or say something before thinking about it (turning to majorly OVER thinking about it). Eye contact is still difficult, though, and facial expressions, although

It is..disheartening that he was always in that much pain, and while I don't agree with his decision, he has my respect.
