If you read the article, the author is actually complaining about a different article's coverage of the disaster because that author was focusing on 'chilary being dead', rather than the fact that 11 people died. The jezebel article is ridiculing the other article for making it into a gender issue.

I do eat mostly rice flour-based alternatives, but what's the problem with corn-flour alternatives? What makes them a lab experiment? I don't really keep up with the whole GMO thing, so I haven't heard anything about corn being bad (other than corn syrup obviously).

Exactly my feelings towards it. I used to love Justin Bieber but lately it seems like he's seriously TRYING to make everyone hate him. :(
