There were some pretty crazy changes made even before going into full production. More stuff with B4, a sequel series, and other crazy ideas that ended up not going anywhere. I’ll admit that I thought about taking some of those things and using them for an alternate take on the show in a tabletop RPG.
The minimal, if any, improvement is just proving how goddamn talented the original stop-motion animators were. The originals are fine.

For instance, do you recall seeing Mani’s mention of “Oskenunda” appear by name in the subtitled scene? Or did it appear as “[speaks foreign language]”?

I have to rewatch that reboot and see if I like it more or less now that I’ve finally seen the original. For a movie in a similar vein, have you seen Leigh Whanell’s Upgrade, which stars Logan Marshall-Green, aka Poor Man’s Tom Hardy?
