MISSION SPENDNOW
The new Escape is exciting, because when the 3 cylinder goes into cylinder deactivation to save gas, the whole car shakes like it blew a tire.
I can totally see the dealership playing it off as “these are rare cars now”
Nothing a 96 month loan can’t fix.
I agree that they look nice but unfortunately almost everyone who bought one immediately scraped it against a bollard or some other heinous cosmetic crime. I haven’t seen one looking like it’s been cared for maybe...ever.
If buying cars was strictly a financial decision, this site wouldn’t exist. The used car fetish here and other enthusiast sites has always been inexplicable to me, especially when (contrary to this article), there are lots of attainable new options out there.
I’d say it’s pretty clear they intend the 30 second stop to be more of a splash and dash type pitstop, but the implications are pretty interesting with regards to strategy and race length.
But that’s partially because Porsche is not willing to make the trade-off between range and reliability that Tesla is, as contributor Mack Hogan has explained.
I think our tough stance has forced them to make some concessions. Not a bad thing.

Factoring in the $1400 quote for the timing belt, we are assessing that a quarter million mile 1.8t Passat wagon is worth $2600. Is it worth that much? Probably. The clutch would be another grand separately, but you could probably get a deal if it’s all done at the same time.
I run solo at night and occasionally make a mistake. I’m sorry this error ruined your reading experience.
As someone who just leased a 2019 Bolt a few weeks ago, I’d say get a 2020 if you’re purchasing one. The cameras in my 19 Premier trim are terrible and I heard that they upgraded them for 20. Since I’m leasing, I didn’t care.
They’re paid shit for the job. Consequently, all the people willing to take the job are shitty people who suck and life and take it out on you.
It’s really fun to drive, and it’s got plenty of creature comforts for me - my hands hate winter so the heated steering wheel is great, and my Premier has the 360 view. The little regen paddle on the steering wheel is a nice feature which I find myself looking for on my family’s other car, a Pacifica PHEV.
TBH after reading about how Porsche and Audi are trying to make these cars drivable in all weather conditions and under hard driving, I can’t really knock on the range anymore.
I’d rather drive 200 miles continuously with the peace of mind that I’ll always get 200 than have 400 degrade to 200 over time. I could foresee…
Right! And “Oh..No...” thinks buyers know the specifics of all new vehicles sold. They dont even know how to use a turn signal much less how the suspension geometry for the new Camry is better for ride comfort than the new Altima.
“The average buyer is educated and very aware of what is out there..”
Those valid points don’t fit the Jalopnik narrative though.
