Shut the fuck up.

The Outlander uses the same awd system that is found in the Evo X, which is an utterly amazing setup. Truth be told, neither vehicle will ever win a beauty contest. But, the Outlander is a better value IMO. While Mitsubishi seems to always to be flirting with death, Acura has been dying a slow, painful death in the

The hell they’re not.

A: The first part is true, the second is not. While, yes, in the corporate hell of things, a week isn’t long at all, the reps actually have a lot more power than just putting you in touch with the dealer. I used to be one for Ford and serious problems got escalated pretty quickly. I sincerely doubt GM is THAT

“I’m confused about the down payment though. Was this truck only covered by liability or was it full coverage? If the latter the insurance company should be working towards getting you another truck; purchasing one yourself and applying another down payment shouldn’t be necessary.”

Can you point us to the part of the article where GM says it isn’t a defect?

I love it when people re-interpret things based on their own biases.

Or maybe they’re just saying they don’t know what caused it because they haven’t investigated it?

It’s been a week. The truck hasn’t even cooled off yet. I doubt that an insurance adjuster had even seen the truck yet, much less conducted any sort of investigation. GM’s position is pretty reasonable, considering the time-frame.

I’m dead convinced that the 258 is impossible to kill. I’ve never heard of one failing that wasn’t completely outside of the realm of anything remotely reasonable (ex. being filled with water, multiple times, by trying to cross a river with it).

Are you joking? How many other canyons have burned up from he same place? A lot of things can set a car on fire. Parking over grass with hot exhaust can burn up a car in minutes.

All I wanted from GM was my deductible ($500) and my down payment to put towards a new vehicle. My reasoning is if this happened and the car survived to make it to the dealer, the bumper to bumper warranty would have fixed it without me paying a dime. Now im out my deductible, my personal items, and nothing to put

I don’t get the problem. He handed it off to his insurance company, it became their job to deal with GM. If he wanted to deal with GM he should have left his insurance company out of it.

There is no documented issue on the new trucks. The old trucks have the documented fire issue.

Once you put your claim in, they have to deal with your insurance company and the insurance company’s attorneys, not you directly. Your insurance company will be the one to file against theirs for compensation, including your deductible. If GEICO is worth a damn, they’ll get your deductible from GM and reimburse you.

Yeah, these things are usually, you know, straight.

Pretty sure they did that already. Also, they call it “military grade”. Ford’s not above BS marketing either.

There is a bear about to be released into the room. There are two cages in which you can take cover in. One is steel and one is aluminum. Both cages weigh the same. Which one do you pick?

As an engineer, material selection is only one fraction of the equation. You need to know thickeness required, temper / heat treatment, the surface treatment... etc. One isn’t “better” than the other, it depends on what spec you’re trying to optimize.
