The 4K in scratch offs isn’t that bad, I worked with a guy that took a $5000 cash down payment from a customer and a Caprice Classic demo and disappeared on a hooker and crack bender in a North Miami Beach motel for a week before the cops busted him......

No, I’m really not. That’s why turnover isn’t as high in literally every single other industry.

everyone in the profession can be replaced by a well-crafted web interface.

This. 100% this.. fuck car sales.

He was telling me about a time when he was wrapping up the paperwork for one of his customers and another one of his buyers came in to finalize the deal. He had worked with this customer for almost a week and they were going to do a final vehicle look-over (the dealer had fixed a few issues) and a final test drive

My limited experience in the field is in here in small bits.

I’m now at a place where they actually respect their sales floor (even though I’m technically off the floor now)

Here is perhaps the most sobering thought about car sales as a career: everyone in the profession can be replaced by a well-crafted web interface.

Literally any job with a commission payment structure is cutthroat and catty. And the people that last the longest and are the most successful are the ones who are the most cutthroat and the most catty. That’s the problem with any sales position.

Former car salescritter here, eventually became an F&I guy, sales manager, and GSM. What follows should be considered well-informed opinion...

“BUT, he said the dealerships he’s worked for can be a kind of “good-ol’-boys” club where the more senior guys (who happen to be related to the family who owns the dealerships) constantly dick the newer guys out of deals or unnecessarily insert themselves into a younger guy’s deal just to get a cut of the commission.”

This is super easy.

I have a friend who has been doing auto sales for about 6 months now.

Nearing a decade in this business on the sales side. I’ve worked at a few different places, the major reason I left was due to archaic management. Most of the old dogs haven’t learned anything new since windows 95 was the alive and kicking. I’m now at a place where they actually respect their sales floor (even though

Because it sucks.

Translation: It’s for people who love money, not people who love cars.

Even with a radar detector/laser 1 kph would be difficult to enforce due to a host of things that could lead to a 1 kph (.6 mph)variance, which is why when you get dinged with these it is for typically being significantly over the speed limit so that there is no discussion to be had.

did you use to work for clickhole.com, you got me

Whaddya mean, “read the article”? We’re supposed to read before we offer our opinions, which are good because they’re ours?

And if the radar/lidar isn’t kept up to date and calibrated correctly you end up with something like a +/- 3mph margin of error which is why only a complete asshole would pull you over for a speed within the moe.

What about future convictions?
