It seems a little backwards to me that the safety of offroad enthusiasts was prioritized over the safety of mere commuters. An offroad enthusiast will see a gas tank in a dangerous place and say “better replace that” or “better protect that”, whereas a commuter won’t notice that they even have a gas tank.
