I'm no apologist for bad physics (the "swimming in zero-g" last week really stuck in my craw), but in this case, it seemed fine. They were in what appeared to be a particulate cloud (or so at least one would assume, given that many objects) - it's not unreasonable to assume that, once freed of the attachment to the

My first thought was NX-01 too, because the nacelle position looked similar, but I looked up images of the NX-01 and the bulbous front of the NX-01 nacelles aren't the same as the pointed front (almost like the 1701-E) of the nacelles in the picture above.

*drivel

But this creates a conundrum! If he can't criticize the film without having likewise made a better one, what gives you the right to criticize his comment without having made a better one (comment)?

I recently started watching Farscape, and there's a question I've been meaning to ask someone who's seen it. I'm nearing the end of season one, and as far as I can tell, the characters from episode-to-episode seem pretty disparate in intentions and actions toward each other. Do the characters even out and get more

The Rocketeer and Speed Racer are two of my more latter-day favorites in this camp. I'd say Star Wars (or moreso, Return of the Jedi), but someone made a decent point in one of the other threads that both have little dips in the action that wax a little more sentimental (which isn't a bad thing, but probably isn't the

Yeah, to be perfectly honest, I personally don't care if they overwrite even some of the later EU stuff (all the new GCW things, the Yuuzhan Vong stuff, etc.). The earlier EU - Stackpole, Alliston, Zahn - that would be nice to have that a little more set in stone. The later stuff is a bit silly.

If you think about the ages of the original principals (e.g. Mark Hamill's age, etc.), then the films could comfortably be set some 30-45 years after the OT. There's certainly some EU material to overwrite, but there's no real reason why most of it can't just fall into place as miscellany that either happened or

It's all relative. Higher AoA requires more thrust to maintain a near-stall. You could point up enough that you'd need afterburners on to stay aloft (and in fact a 90deg ascension would eventually make the craft stall out - it's not a rocket).

Of any potential issues, that's not really one (at least insomuch as physics are concerned). You can operate any airplane in a near-stall state (the linked video is an F-18). In fact, it's likely that given the angle, he was very near an actual stall.

No kidding. This is on a "best" list for me, and it's certainly not the worst of the worst. I watch this every 07/04 (just the speech, not the movie).

Whatever you do, construct your PC with PCPartPicker. (http://pcpartpicker.com/) It's absolutely the best tool I've seen for this - I have only a little experience with putting together a machine, but this was incredibly invaluable to me for its powerful comparisons.

Likewise.

I think that any person is more liberal in his administration of assuredness when he's in a group that predominantly agrees with him. In public, physical, face-to-face forums (especially in the U.S.), religious people probably feel more comfortable speaking out (as it is or at least appears to be the status quo).

Not even a contest, although I suppose most people went with capital/transport-type vessels.

They found two rich veins! Basically unheard-of.

I've enjoyed this discussion. I don't know that I have any more to add, but I wanted to say "thanks" for a nice sharing of ideas.

So get that chocolate in X-Wing's peanut butter and play XvT - that game was probably my first substantial internet MP experience, and it remains one of the best I've had. Full Disclosure: TIE Fighter was great (and better than X-Wing), but XWA was a better experience than both (although the story was less-substantial

I've had my MS Sidewinder for almost 20 years now, and it's still working great for all my flight sims. It's obviously not as robust as a HOTAS combo, but it's definitely workable.

For your consideration:
