I think the key difference is the acknowledgement that some people are weighing political risk and potential as a positive choice, rather than siding with the devil they fear least.

I don’t think this jives with the reality of being a CONCACAF country. There’s no future where the USMNT is entirely based in Europe, and it doesn’t have to be. In fact, I don’t think that’s the way to have a cohesive national team.

There’s an excellent volunteer series called “The Replay” where soccer journalists are re-watching old matches and writing it up. I highly recommend it!
