Indeed. To quote from another favorite show. The desire to be grimdark will need to be addressed. The “Game of Thrones in Space” vibe or or any of those things you mentioned are all going to be a problems.

The big thing I’d wish is for the show to air on The CW, not some CBS version of Hulu that no one wants to pay for.
Fuck the JJ-Verse.
I decided a while ago to just assume that any bipedal dinosaurs were feathered unless there was some specific evidence to the contrary. Because they’re just big birds once you remove the paradigm inherited from the reptilian lore we were fed as kids. On a related note - huge birds that don’t fly are still something we…

Hobbes is a stuffed doll? I need a bottle of scotch.
No, no, it’s levity, you see? Totally lighter than other stuff.
I don’t know that the original makes sense either, but don’t let that put you off. It’s supposed to be mysterious.
Not completely sure if it was just a remake stand-alone film, or they were planning a reboot, but for me, the Jim Caviezel The Prisoner. I felt sick just hearing about it, and my stomach was not surprised by the result.
The JJVerse Trek is to Star Trek as The NEW 52 is to DC Comics.
I’m just bitter over Star Trek. They weren’t bad movies or even bad scifi, they just didn’t FEEL like Trek. And for all of his faults, Lucas made the prequels fit right in with the originals, they were just crap scripts.
“Decent” may be the very best adjective anybody should ever find themselves using when describing JJ’s direction on any film property. Some may say that makes him slightly overqualified to direct a Star Wars movie.
True, but as the article mentioned, that film was the first time the media had uncovered that asshole. Revealing an asshole is novel, but leaving one on display is awkward, tasteless, and grotesque.
We reached Jobs overload a decade ago. The man was a great marketer and knew what he wanted in a product. That’s about it. Is that really worth celebrating as much as we have?
The Pirates of Silicon Valley was a fantastic movie that was more interested in telling the history between the two greats of modern computing…
I just don’t think watching a movie about an insufferable A-hole CEO is worth a couple hours of my time ...
I avoided that movie because it has Tom Cruise in it, but then I found out that he plays a coward that dies over and over and over again.
I liked that film a lot, but the suits... Eh, it always bothered me that there wasn’t really any armour. I mean, if you’re gonna stick someone in some really cumbersome power suit thing, you might as well take advantage of the added carry capacity to strap some heavy armour on there.
It may be the engineer in me, but I’m rather partial to this super suit.
I preferred the longer-term plan of simply pricing out the hippies, artists, malcontents, and weirdos, forcing them to move to Oakland, but seeing as Burning Man is all corporate App princes driving $3mm tour buses to burning man, I’d say a wall is a much better solution now. Those are really the people we don’t want.…
