IIRC, Of Montreal has an album titled “Satanic Panic in the Attic.”

When Dwayne Johnson says he worked his hands to the bone, he really meant he forced the below-the-line technicians, artists, stunt team, and production people to work overlong hours, often through lunch, with no break, right?
It’s because they managed to get Tony Leung to star in it. And he brought such empathy and compassion and understanding to the character that there were times I had to sit back and go, “Wait. This dude’s a warmonger.” Which, to me, makes him a far more dangerous person than the mustache-twirlers.
I dunno. I think a C+ for “Infinity War” is generous.
Awkwafina’s presence was a plus, but I got a lot more interested when I saw Tony Leung got roped into it.
It wasn’t.
I’ve always had trouble with the phrase “white-passing.” My brother is definitely lighter than the rest of my family and we tease him about it a lot. BUT you put him in a room with a bunch of white people, and there’s no way he passes.
The movie has 96% approval, with an 8.4/10 average rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has an 84 on Metacritic. The movie was well-received.
I don’t understand why the AV Club is going so hard for Jennings. He’s a black hole of charisma, awkward and smarmy and clearly more interesting as a contestant rather than the host.
I don’t think Jennings was the best or most obvious choice. I thought he was grating and annoying the whole time, maintaining this “I remember being just like you, aw shucks” demeanor for his stint. He did fine with the players but I think he was terrible at controlling the game, which made those six weeks lasted way…
I’m not sure if you’re talking about “Endgame” or “Avatar.”
The 2020 standouts for me were:
I completely disagree with you on “Suspiria.” Because while I find the original a colorful concoction with a great Jessica Harper performance, it devolves into being a typical slasher film. It’s fine.
I would also argue that Fraser’s from New York. He’s probably exposed to more people who are more comfortable and forward while exploring and defining their identities. The base seems more closed off, an echo chamber, here. So guru isn’t the right phrase but someone who has had more experience, or at least a different…
He’s like the H.P. Lovecraft of operatic music.
Turns out that Ezra Miller video where he put the lady in a choke hold was just rehearsal for an upcoming Joss Whedon production.
I honestly don’t think the new trilogy was a mess until Rise of Skywalker. And most of that comes from such a rushed production schedule, the inclusion of Terrio, and Abrams’s instincts for mystery box upon mystery box.
I’d like to think that with an extra year, Abrams could have turned in something that did build upon the previous story, that expanded and developed the Star Wars universe.
BUT — Johnson originally planned to write the treatment and outline for Episode IX. And Kylo Ren running around as the big bad made for a far better villain than some generic old evil robed dude. There was so much to offer with that.
Didn’t Empire split the characters up, though?
