*looks at the number of laws pushed through to ban gays from doing X vs the number of laws pushed through to allow gays to do X*

Most instincts aren't a button or switch that gets thrown and turns them on. The maternal instinct, like most, arises through the gradually changing levels of select hormones. It's highly unlikely that it'll be fully developed while the woman is still pregnant. Even more unlikely that it'll fully develop within, say,

I umm... what? Maternal instinct is that of a mother to protect her children...

"Our first primal instinct is self-preservation"

Well, there's always the social experiment that found that humans are most productive in a democratically elected hierarchy, rather than under a monarch or communal rule.

"Epic already said that their new engine isn't a good "fit" for the WiiU, and that they won't be porting it."

You do realize that your statement is based on a VERY incomplete picture of the Wii U's memory bandwidth, yes? The estimate you're referencing doesn't take into account the FAR faster eDRAM present on the Wii U, while the estimates for the PS3/360 do.

The power 7 architecture used in the CPU wasn't released until 2010, with first shipments going out for supercomputers in August, 2011. Now, on the GPU-side of things, you're right(kind of, the R7xx in the Wii U is heavily customized), but then those of the 360 and PS3 were also similarly decidedly out of date when

"The Wii U is currently running on current-gen tech"

My point was less about the plausibility of their existence(I'm sure they *do* exist) and more about the rampant speculation on exactly what comprises them and how they will relate to the Wii U. Counting on unconfirmed, unfinished, unannounced hardware to be at any set level is ridiculous.

"destined to be vastly out-powered by the next PlayStation and Xbox as soon as late next year"

Just like happened with the PS2, with it's inferior hardware?

Because we, as a society, tend to nearly deify the victim(they faced something so horrible, how dare you question them?). It likely starts with good intentions; trying to make it so the victim doesn't have to face even *more* horrors. But this tendency ends up in incredibly dangerous territory because when it comes

Well, sorta. Wipeout HD managed to cheat its way there by dynamically changing the resolution frame-by-frame, rather than having dropped frames or a lower overall resolution. So, while it can hit 1920x1080 visuals at 60 fps, it doesn't do so consistently.

"but there really isn't a difference between moving your eyes to a second screen, and back, and bringing up/dismissing a menu."

Why, that sounds like an intelligent and well thought out statement without any brand-hatred involved at all!

No, the point of a GUI is so that you have any damn idea what's going on, rather than just not seeing anything.

That's why I said other *consoles*. Also, playing through ME3, the game gives you tons of time where you aren't under direct fire. Sure, this makes you manage your time better, but for a lot of games, that could factor in pretty well with the gameplay. After all, not everything needs to make the game easier.

Well, in fairness, that's why he's saying RPG's, and using Mass Effect as an example. There's plenty of time in ME3 to make these kind of quick changes, and they're things that had to be done on the other consoles as well, just that this gives a quicker, better way to do them.
