Some of the stunt/wirework is not great. That final leap she does at the end of the movie in particular looks bad.

True, but there are other avenues avaialble other than “ripoff existing trek” and “rip off older existing trek”. Nobody is forcing STD to do what it did. In fact peopel were quite vocal about how we didn’t want yet another prequel/reboot.
At the very least ripping off TNG would make it unique in the modern TV landscape…
