It's a little hard to know how a $400 Wii U One would have done this past year. Third parties haven't been porting their PS/360 games to the Wii U this year even though the specs are pretty comparable, so the same thing very well could have happened with a Wii U One and next gen third party games.

I'm pretty much swearing off non-Nintendo gaming until maybe mid-2014. I still have to get to Mario & Luigi and Pikmin 3, and if I don't get those before Rayman, W101, and Wind Waker HD come out, well, I may have to abandon some important life commitments to catch up.

The thing to remember is that Nintendo is a different company than Sony and Microsoft in a lot of ways, the key one being that console gaming is all they do. They don't have an international electronics empire to leverage against the high cost and low profitability of next gen consoles. If Nintendo got in a straight

Right, but making one in your garage is a far cry from making a ton of them and selling them on a website called hackyourconsole.com.

Nintendo isn't suing an individual kid who copied a DS game, which could be a fair use "timeshifting" kind of thing. They're suing the makers of the flashcard, which they will argue is not a stable article of commerce capable of a substantial non-infringing use. Unlike betamax (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sony_Cor

So it isn't "Though I try to hide it, it's clear / I blow bubbles when you are not near"?

No one. No one else didn't get freaked out when that happened. You are some kind of paragon of courage.

Is the other side of the argument that the treatment of women in video games is totally fine the way it is? Because if that's it, then the other side is just, like, the way things are now, right? Does she have to put an "if I'm wrong, then everything is fine and please disregard this video" tag at the beginning?

Taaake oooon Maaars! *Take on Mars* Taaaake Maaaars ooooon! *Take on Mars* Maaaars beeee goooooone! In a day or twoooooooooooooo!

For the same reason the Power Rangers don't just assemble the Megazord and step on every new monster. Pacific Rim is as much an homage to the giant robot/monster genre as it is a standalone movie, and in that genre you never use your most powerful weapon until the climax of the fight. It's much cooler that way.

*Ding ding ding* Ahem. To Bobsplosion! May he maintain a positive kdr through this next match.

Pit: You know, Komaytos kinda look like little Metroids

I beg to differ; I watched that cutscene where the heroes, flying in the Halberd, the S.S. Dolphin, and Samus's Gunship, attack a Bowser- and Ganondorf- commanded gigantic battle station that looks like a dozen Stargate Atlantis city ships fused together in order to make a run on Subspace itself over and over again

Link's a 10 year old kid. Of course he was going to wish on the Triforce for Iron Man armor.

I miss Kevin Conroy...

Sure! Not sure how entertaining it is, but I'm at @ChapinSays.

I didn't mean the fight between you and me, this is just a discussion on the Internet. I meant the larger struggle over balanced portrayals of women and minorities in the media (and a lot of other areas of society) that, to those who feel underrepresented, is a fight.

You're absolutely right. I was coming at this in response to the "that Jezebel article is dumb, sexism isn't GTA V's fault, the game creators obviously wanted to have all male protagonists" argument, but there's definitely more to discuss about the industry and medium at large than just on a game by game basis. I

A couple of things:

Totally true. Also, I feel terrible that you felt the need to establish your gaming cred first. It's really dumb that it seems necessary.
