It's a little hard to know how a $400 Wii U One would have done this past year. Third parties haven't been porting their PS/360 games to the Wii U this year even though the specs are pretty comparable, so the same thing very well could have happened with a Wii U One and next gen third party games.

I'm pretty much swearing off non-Nintendo gaming until maybe mid-2014. I still have to get to Mario & Luigi and Pikmin 3, and if I don't get those before Rayman, W101, and Wind Waker HD come out, well, I may have to abandon some important life commitments to catch up.

For the same reason the Power Rangers don't just assemble the Megazord and step on every new monster. Pacific Rim is as much an homage to the giant robot/monster genre as it is a standalone movie, and in that genre you never use your most powerful weapon until the climax of the fight.
