I wonder if this stems from Netflix’s comments in Europe, and how they are doing all/most of the things the unions in the US are demanding. And how Netflix over in Europe is committed to fairly paying those people (per their public statements, and again applying to the european side of things).
Thunderdome! All the execs enter, one exec leaves.
Only way streaming will survive vs piracy at this point and be profitable is to go back to a central service like Netflix used to be. Maybe a shared platform where companies are paid based on how much the content is viewed and amount of content contributed to the platform.
This reminds me of the first Internet boom/bust circa 2000. Everyone and their mother thought they can run an online store selling a single 5 buck trinket that in reality costs them 10 bucks each to process, fulfill, and ship out.
This is what’s going to decimate streaming. If no one’s watching your $200 million prestige shows, then what’s the money for?
Funny how studios thought that they could make their own streaming apps without taking into consideration how much it actually costs to run . It’s probably way cheaper to license out all their IP to the likes of Netflix and stuff and just worry about making the content.
This comes down to an epic failure of leadership. None of these CEOs have made a convincing case as to WHY everyone needs to return to the office. Their employees are not buying their reasoning. Your side rant is totally my boss who hates us working from home because she cannot corner us alone in the hall or office and make verbal unrecorded demands. She hates that remote work her crazy paranoid narcissist rants, randomness, and threats are recorded.
