In other Oscar news my over 70 year old parents watched EEAAO yesterday and I got a text this morning from my mom that says “We have questions”. I’ve been explained movies to them post viewing since The Matrix but I’m not sure I can tackle discussing butt plug with them.

I hope I’ll be able to play this. I foolishly started a New Game+ at the end because I wanted to punch that horse jerk into the ground, but once I did that I realized I was stuck back at the start of the game. I don’t have it in me to grind to some of the later areas again.

Is it really that hard to pay for the things you use?

Nothing inspires respect more than a journalist that gets the dates wrong, hasn’t really played the source material, complains about trivialities in both the show and game , insults Troy Baker’s performance even though he won best voice actor for said performance and it’s one of the most beloved character of all time

Baker won best voice actor for the performance and the prologue is widely considered one of his better moments in the game. It’s also worth noting that Baker delivered that performance under vastly more difficult conditions (silly mocap suits in a bright white room).

other than that I think the acting in the opening of the game is very poor.

It seems a bit unfair to compare Troy Baker’s performance with Pedro Pascal’s. In the show, Pedro has...his whole body to act with? Or are you including 2013 animation (which was quite good, but not exactly human) as part of the “performance”?

I can’t speak to whether or not it’s THE greatest, but as someone who usually skips past all cutscenes and dialogue in games (or if unskippable, reads a book during), The Last of Us I & II are the only games where I’ve been compelled to pay attention to all of the story and dialogue. Even with games like Bioshock and G

Celebrated innovator James Cameron has lived a dozen lives. Director, philanthropist, undefeated Little League coach, deepsea explorer, good at marriage.  The list goes on, for he is truly a... Titanic talent.

thats what Avatar does to you

Man, my 7yo saw a commercial for the re-release of the first one and she said she wanted to see it. I was like ugh babe I don’t think I can sit through that again. Luckily she immediately forgot about it.

John Carter is LITERALLY a golden age/classic sci fi story. GTFO.

Or The Red Sea, but they would have to be pretty serious at that point.

3D looks good for the first 10 minutes, until my brain forgets it’s 3D and it just looks normal.

You know what they say. If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a blue dragon.

People talk about the Zune and Betamax too...

The issue with Avatar is that the only allure was it’s visual effects. That’s it. Uninspiring story. Boring characters. It’s all sizzle and no steak.

No, context is key. Here James Cameron is clearly suggesting Avatar had a cultural impact in that it fundamentally altered the way films tell stories.

James...you made The Terminator. Titanic. Aliens. The Abyss. True Lies. Why, why do you have to hang your hat on this uninspired, boring franchise? You fuckin’ went into the Mariana Trench for fuck’s sake, and the thing you want to be remembered for is Avatar?

“When you have extraordinary success, you come back within the next three years,” he added. “That’s just how the industry works. You come back to the well, and you build that cultural impact over time. Marvel had maybe 26 movies to build out a universe, with the characters cross-pollinating. So it’s an irrelevant
