The 4 characters were inspired in real WWII war heroes:

I don’t disagree with anything you’ve written here. I also must admit that none of it occurred to me while playing (and digesting) the campaign as what it all immediately and consistently reminded me of was Inglorious Basterds. A less fun and pulpy Inglorious Basterds for sure, but still very much of that cloth. So I

I got the impression the game was aiming for more of an over the top Inglorious Bastards vibe but slightly more toned for something like the Dirty Dozen and fit it into the framework as a prequel to their now unified Cold War/Modern Warfare task forces.

So trying to blame it for not being historically accurate

Uncharted is a great suggestion, i hope that gets back to them. Or new Tomb raiders.

It Takes Two

Also...did they not play the first game?

That’s ummm...something.

This makes pulling the Mario collection even more cynical. “Let’s make this set of games limited edition so we can stick an inferior version on our buggy online service!” Just, wow.

The extended cut of Donnie Darko proved pretty conclusively that the absolute last thing we want is Richard Kelly further expanding on its “universe”.

I dunno, I don’t want ‘em to feel bad.

why would you pay 5$ more and loose the DLC if you ever stop paying for the expansion pack when you can just pay a flat 25 and keep it forever.

But if every story is just part of the next story, why bother paying attention to any story at all?

The “fun” of unlocking cringe corporate approved memes?

Thats not actually how this played out. I dont think anyone other then this click baity headline would say that Epic won. Epic does not get their own distribution platform in iOS, Epic does not get their own payment processing in iOS. What Epic and all other developers did win is a victory for common sense. They are

It’s been really sad to watch Kotaku gradually become what its critics have long said it is. I have been reading Kotaku since around 2010-2011, I’m guessing, and it was once by far my favorite site for coverage of games and the culture around games. Over the last year or two, though, and especially over the last few

The title makes me smh. Some articles should point out race, but this one is not needed. You could just say:

“It’s a character that the vast majority of the universe has never heard of before played by an unknown.”

People really piled on him for this. I saw it everywhere. I don’t understand that. For me, the story is very clearly indicative of his mother being a toxic figure in his life.

Didn’t the AV Club used to do “commentariat awards” or something like that? B/c this is the post of the fucking year right here

You know what this feels like? It feels like liberal arts college departmental politics.

The theater department gets troubling reports about an older tenured male professor concerning interactions with students and staff, and instead of firing his ass, the college asks HIM which classes he would feel most comfortable
