Wait. Didn’t he campaign and endlessly repeat how he would be “strong on the military?” How would preventing people to willingly serve in the military be considered strong?

I felt bad for the Jamaican guy that was still taking Billy’s calls at the end. Like, what is it about that guy where people still sympathize with him and crave his approval??

I doubt Ja Rule donated anything. I imagine his lawyers have strongly advised him against paying out any money to any one creditor of the festival, lest more come knocking.

It’s frustrating because my dad is otherwise pretty progressive when it comes to feminism and women’s issues, but that women = emotional, men = logical thing is SO ingrained and he can’t even see it. He’s done exactly what you describe - one time he was telling me about a fight he had with my sister, he was frustrated

This is so well put. Honestly I have struggled to articulate this, but you hit the nail on the head. I have also found that when women get upset or angry, these same men berate them for being hysterical.

Not based on some emotional ideology about who has power and who doesn’t.

ha ha ha here it is

Right. I’m calling it the Brett Kavanaugh Reply®.

I pointed out that it’s gendered emotional marketing and he’s like “men don’t respond to emotional ads”

Omg fucking ‘logical’ men are always the first to lose their fucking mind and start screaming and hitting things, and that’s not emotional at all because we’ve trained men to think violence is a logical reaction to a situation and that everyone should coddle them and get them a glass of milk instead of look at them

Did his head explode?   Because I can’t see ol’ broflake handling all that truth at once.

LMFAO the power struggle isn’t emotional. You don’t think white people had power that they used to enslave others? You might want to read up on that.

I just finished a cantankerous debate about this blasted ad with a guy who voted for Trump, and he said “white guys are tired of being told we’re stupid in ads!” I asked what ads because all the ones I see are like, BUY THIS GIANT TRUCK TO SHOW YOU HAVE BALLS, GRRRR! BUY THIS DEODORANT THAT SMELLS LIKE A SEXY PINE

Just to be clear: Ezra Levant is not a “political commentator.” He’s hate-mongering, petro-shilling, far-right racist who’s been justly exiled to wacko fringe of Canadian media.

I’ve had a few conversations with men, where they are bitching about an interaction/date they had with a woman who was clearly NOT interested. They’re like, “AUGHHH women! So confusing. So many mixed signals. I don’t get women.” And the men present will nod along.

You know, it was a similar situation to yours that first opened my eyes to male privilege. This was back in 2012, before it was in the social consciousness the way it is today. I was traveling in South America and I was having a conversation with two other American tourists but they were both women. One arrived around

You hit the nail on the head. This is why so many men don’t believe us when we share our experiences about what it’s like to navigate this world as a woman, and our concerns (about so, so many things) are often downplayed.

There may be a biological aspect but I think the greater issue is the societal one, one that still inherently puts various aspects of toxic male pride/power on a pedastal that mustn’t be removed else the world will end apparently (and any man who does those things is the “real victim”).

For men, interactions with women are a zero-sum game. If she wins, he loses. He doesn’t want to be a loser, so in every encounter she has to lose in order to reaffirm his manhood.

I’m a gay man but I have male and female friends. One thing I’ve noticed in talking with my guy friends about women is that, in general, men do not respect women.
