I agree with most of what you said. I think McDonalds would absorb some of the costs in the short term, simply because one big price hike is more discouraging than several smaller ones over the course of a year or two.

Ng is mostly Chinese (hokkien). The Vietnamese equivalent would be ngo^ but it sounds a little diferent.

There is also the complicating factor that nyugen can be either a surname or fore name; the pronunciation is different in both cases but we wouldn't know that because the diacritics are removed!
