Xenosaga, extremely uneven? Bite your tongue. Square Enix wishes they could put out a competent RPG 80% as good as any of the Xenosagas. (I don’t count DQ because SE doesn’t develop it internally)

Youre correct. It has much more to do with does the developer have support and do they have creative freedom? THAT’S important. Who’s banner isn't actually important.
They don’t have to share. They’re definitely going to leave existing games, but I think future CODs outside of the contract obligations will be gamepass exclusive.
Its the opposite though. MS has been doing PC day 1 for years and I promise Sony will be doing that in about 18 months.
I like a good joke as much as anyone, but in all honesty, when you’re a big company making a giant purchase like this you have to disclose it almost immediately after you make an intention to purchase offer if you’re publicly traded.
Yeah and that was after years and years of making games. It's really hard to make it. People don't really understand it because they work for big corporations and have never had a missed paycheck. It's hard to deliver that news that pay won't be on time. Having the backing of a big company who let's you be creative is…
I hear what you’re saying. I mean lots of it is just fanboy bullshit. But for me personally, I’m excited about the MS Activision purchase because there are thousands of creative, talented game developers who have been forced to make COD after COD who now may have the chance to make what they want. Like the Tony hawk…
Its really easy to say that when you're not running a company that is CONSTANTLY having to fundraise so that you can make payroll for your employees. I can attest it's a very stressful situation. Most independent studios fail because it's very hard to do this. I know you don't mean your statement in a bad way, but if…
The thing is the push for cloud is probably going to change everything. It wouldn’t surprise me if in five years, more people are playing COD on smart TVs Ad mobile devices with controllers paired to them than consoles and PCs themselves. We forget about foreign markets where consoles are so expensive and I think…
Its also just not special, keep warzone going, make releasing a cod an event.
Yeah I don't disagree that we may see three more, but it's possible they may take a year off in between. I still think quake is coming.
Im kind of shocked no one is talking about that. All of Activision revolves around supporting call of duty. It’s like allowing a song writer to make a new album when they’ve been forced to do kareoke for a decade.
Honestly they had MANY problems. It’s really fascinating if you like gaming business, but you’re totally right. The SOJ, SOA relationship was so, so odd.
Im not trying to be a jerk here honestly, but I’m shocked that you feel really strongly but don’t seem to have a vision of what you’d like to see, even it’s wild and unrealistic. For example you could say “I think there should be no closed systems and we should all have the choice to buy steam machines and you can run…
Time will tell. I for one am not against competing gamepass service. Hell, MS isn’t either. But so far developers aren’t complaining about their compensation.
I’m optimistic that they’ll actually get away from yearly CODs. They’re not interested in revenue the same way Activision is. Phil has said over and over that he wants studios to make the games they want to make. When you think of all the COD assigned studios they have, how many of those developers ARE DYING to do…
Lots of developers have come out to say how profitable it was for them. Gameinjustry.biz has a few of these but here’s one.
That developer was the MS acquisition I was expecting/wanted. A small team that really punched above their weight that with more funding could really build something big.
But how many consoles can the market support? We’ve seen all different types of experiments. Anyone could have made a 3do but they were too expensive for consumers. The Jaguar was a disaster on many levels. Sega allowed Hitachi and victor to manufacture Saturn’s as well. I supported the Dreamcast till it’s last dying…
You can't fire a CEO before a merger even if you don't like him. It will take months for it to become official. I think Bethesda took over six months to become official. Microsoft isn't interested in doing what Activision does anyways so they don't want Kotik. If they did, we'd see three studios making halo for…
