Those crash tests are not what I’d expect of a car with a zero star rating, even if it’s a downgrade from the last gen. If that Renault earns a zero, then what would a 20-year-old car earn? A negative score?

We’d have more cheap cars if the cost of ownership was more on par with other countries. Unlike most of the world, Americans enjoy the luxury of bigger, higher end used cars being a viable alternative to a cheap economy cars. They don’t have to worry about high gas prices, high registration fees or heavy taxes on

It’s hard to feel sympathetic for someone who casually trades in a car that’s barely a year old, but I understand the frustration.

What? A car that became popular with obnoxious assholes in the used market? Actually, despite the popularity of the G series, the Maxima still appeals to the same people attracted to both them and the ostentatious styling of contemporary Accords and Camrys. Demand as waned but I still see Maximas on a daily basis;

The Alpine is a decent-looking car but belongs nowhere near the top 5. It’s somewhat awkward and already feels dated. I’d put it on par with the Alfa 4c; neat car, nice to look at, but not a world-beater.

It’s strange to me that we’re talking about Nissan here and the Leaf isn’t mentioned. That’s a car which has won numerous awards and was the best selling EV until finally being surpassed the Model 3 in 2019. Over 500,000 of the things have been sold worldwide.

This reminds me of Youtubers who use clickbait and sensationalism but then criticize viewers for knee-jerk comments.

Yokes, joysticks and other nonsense have been featured in concept cars for decades. They’ve never gone into production and it’s unlikely they ever will.

Hyundai has a few decent designs, but off the top of my head I can think of several better-looking lighting designs from various automakers. That said, I will give them credit for pushing the envelope

You’re lucky you have just the one guy. On one end of my street there’s a guy with a G35 an obscenely loud exhaust. A couple of houses down there’s another guy who recent did an engine swap on an old Golf; also loud as hell and for a while he’d rev the engine for a good 5 minutes every single day. Around the corner

The dealership model needs to die. Why car shopping in 2021 isn’t like buying any other good is beyond me. I get that there are logistical challenges, but that should all be baked into the MSRP.

It would be fun to have people choose a car based on a single pic.

Do a 15 hour flight to Asia then tell me seats shouldn’t recline.

US license plates, with rare exceptions, suck. A license plate should be simple and functional, like the most of the world uses. Instead the US has an irrational fixation on cramming artwork onto these things. It would be tolerable if they hired competent designers, but instead they seem to find the worst ones in the

Foxconn is Taiwanese, not Chinese. Taiwanese companies don’t randomly violate IP law, especially someone like Foxconn who’s entire business is based on manufacturing electronics for virtually every country on earth.

Early? Nissan beat BMW to the market by 3 years and the Leaf has sold quite well. I think the Leaf is still the second best selling EV after the Model 3. The i3 is too damn expensive for what it is, even in Europe where people have to contend with high fuel costs and heavy taxation.

The statement is that they’ll lose jobs if they transition too slowly to EVs. Presumably the argument is based on the expectation that they’d lose revenue as other automakers overtook them. Doesn’t seem unreasonable even if the 30k figure is complete BS.

The furthest offroad 99% of Explorers go is a gravel parking lot. Most consumers are paying for the aesthetic so I don’t expect they’ll be disappointed. It’s no different than the vast majority of Jeep owners who also engage in offroader cosplay.

Credit building sounds like a load of nonsense, but this sure doesn’t seem like the way to build it. Why not just keep driving this perfectly decent, virtually brand new Buick?

That’s terrible... Unfortunately, this seemed inevitable. There are tons of clips at the Nurburgring of cars approaching at full tilt, drivers unaware that there’s a wreck up ahead. In some cases multiple cars lose control because they’ve spotted the crash halfway through a bend or because fluids have spilled.
