Inevitably there’s someone who gets really defensive about some brands. Unreliable doesn’t mean 100% of cars will fail at a predetermined mileage. It means the odds of problems are a lot higher than other brands and the risk will only increase with age.
It’s interesting to see a modern car with a discrete bumper. That’s an interesting front end, but there’s something a bit weird about it. Not that it matters, I don’t see this startup going very car, especially with a design that’s such an obvious copy.
First of all, the application this guy is using is Blender. Cycles and Octane are both rendering engines. This guy talks a lot about render quality, but the issues he raises can be addressed by customizing shaders or utilizing post processing which you need to do no matter what. What really matters is workflow.
Those guards are popular in Asia and plenty of non-smokers have them. I suppose they let you keep your windows open a crack in the summer without fear of it raining inside the car. If you’re up on the 8th floor and a rainstorm hits on a hot summer afternoon you’re never getting to your car in time to close the windows.
Toyota Corolla. One of the most reliable cars in existence and the base model is very affordable, assuming you can avoid dealers pushing you onto higher trim levels.
The sedan looks good, but the hatchback’s proportions are really awkward. Granted, the last gen had the same weird shape, but it worked better with the old styling. This one is very back-heavy, looking like a crossover with an excessively long hood.
When you scratch the surface you realize a lot of it is superficial. That said, China is able to push a lot more than the US because they don’t spend a lot of time debating these things. It’s helped by having confidence that Chinese citizens will generally follow the rules or can be forced to do so.
The sheer volume of advancements is incredible, but those affects are seen over the span of decades. New models don’t experience the kinds of generational advancements automakers would like us to believe they do.
It’s also worth noting that Americans are holding on to cars longer than ever before. The current average is 11 years, which is impressive.
There’s no excusing what the driver did, but there are tons of shitty people out there. It’s frustrating driving through neighborhoods where assholes just step out in front of traffic and take their time crossing the street like it’s some kind of challenge.
It’s shocking just how awful the other entries were and embarrassing that this garbage is the best American companies could come up with.
The Civic looks better than I expected it would, but it’s kind of shocking how much it looks like an Accord. That said, look closer and and elements that evoke VW/Audi become evident. The interior is great, but it really doesn’t match the exterior at all. Nothing about the exterior says retro like that dashboard does.
Yuppies who pretend to be rugged outdoorsmen. Their bloated salaries will allow them to buy the top spec merely for bragging rights. They bore colleagues about the Hummer’s capabilities but the only offroading they’ll ever do is the gravel lot at their daughter’s lacrosse event.
If it were that easy they would have done it decades ago. I don’t think you understand the complexity involved in addressing this problem.
The designers were trying way too hard to be different. This thing is ugly, like a bad parody of the Q4. The interior looks decent at least.
Given my dad’s experience with VW and Audi, my 06 A3 proved a lot more reliable than I expected. I sold it at 150k miles and never had an issue that left the car undriveable. I did have to address a few issues, but I did have a better experience than later iterations of that drivetrain. Typical German nonsense.
Any way you slice it, this is stupid and should be prohibited for road use. However, the problems with some aspects of car culture extend way beyond this particular group.
Looks pretty good to me, as far as generic SUVs go. It’s got a little of Toyota and Lexus in there. It isn’t trying quite as hard nor is it blatantly trying to evoke an upscale brand like some of the competitors on the market.
