A little outside the box? This is like suggesting someone buy a powerboat instead of a car for their daily commute. These posts will not keep anyone from buying a used Taurus, because no one who buys a used Taurus has ever read any car enthusiast publications.

For $55,000 I'd rather spend the bigger half of that on a pre-owned Lexus, and save the other half for parts\maintenance once the warrantys up, if I get any.

Another day, another mindless comparison. If you have $55,000 cash laying around, you could buy this Bentley for the price of a used Lexus. However, if you take that $55,000 to the Lexus dealer to buy a used car, you'll be driving away a short time later in a certified pre-owned 2013 LS460. Now, that's assuming that

The pre VW Bentleys are God's way of telling you you don't have enough aggravation in your life.

I personally work on these for a living. No, You wouldn't. These cars have a Citroen designed LHM mineral oil based brake and suspension system that is hopelessly unreliable. Parts are expensive. and nobody except a Rolls Royce specialist should service it. It's a very nice constant headache.

On a related note, the most pitifully underpowered car I've ever owned, a 1985 Chevrolet Sprint with 3-cylinders and 40hp at the flywheel, is still the fastest car I've ever driven...got it to 130mph (passing a Porsche 930 in the process). Long, hilarious story.

The Mazda suitcase car had a 40cc engine, though I couldn't find a hp rating.

Benz Patent Motorwagen

I was going to say "We'll make our own roadster, with CEL's and Exposed fasteners" but simplicity usually wins..=D

We'll make our own roadster,

"Connecticut suggested that rather than trying to shove a three-wheeled vehicle into a two-wheeled hole, Polaris should consider legislative options. "

well said. give this man a beer.

My Dad has a 1993 Landcruiser and I don't think that it could pull the dick off of a chocolate mouse. It's without a doubt the slowest accelerating vehicle I've ever driven. And that's including the 1987 4-Runner I had with a 4 cylinder. I would drop a Chevy V8 in it in a heart beat.

It's cool bro, I shipped my LS to Japan and back before it went into the NB, so I'm still JDM, right?

So you admit: you're merely projecting your own personal biases. Because if you didn't know anything about the engine's manufacturer, then it would stop being meaningful to you in any way. That means that all of the value is purely inside of your own fragile little mind. You're focused too much on what something is

Yeah, there are just as many here, whining about the car losing its "soul." What a crock, just a bunch of little kids pushing their own personal biases onto cars.

Can't wait to rip the toyota engine and trans out of my land cruiser, turn it into a boat mooring, and put in a lovely Chevy V8. For even more fun I plan to swap all the toyo badges for Chevy. I promise, it will have a hell of a lot more soul once I'm done.

What nonsense. As I wrote above, there are specs that matter: power, torque curve, reliability, etc. Manufacturer is meaningless. Number of valves per cylinder is meaningless. I owned the 240SX before all of this "Let's import SR20's from Japan!" became the rage, and I can tell you that the 2.4 liter "soul" of my car

Yeah, KA engines had soul, right.

IMO its the "every engine belongs in it's own special box" is the dry and soulless point of view. It's too bad engine swaps hurt your feelings, because there is no way you're having more fun for less money than some crap-can import with reliable big power and cheap replacement parts.
