I feel like all media has been trending this way for awhile. Movie cinematic universes, mobile games, social media..... no one just makes entertainment intended to be enjoyed for it’s own sake anymore. I too am a huge cryptocurrency skeptic, but at lease cryptocurrencies have some theoretical value as a convenient (and relatively liquid) medium of exchange. NFTs are just digital collectors items.
