1. As some other comments noted below, the track is unsafe all around. Cup cars are so fast there they run superspeedway aero packages but short track brake packages. Jimmy Johnson lost brakes going into one a few years ago and radiod back that he “got away with one”

Combined with guys that dont have a history with wheel to wheel oval racing, IE anyone that comes from Europe
Ovals also lend to closer racing, which combined with closer closing speeds of open wheel cars can lend to this.
Its more of a product of the guys who race in Indycar, either F1 dropout or people trying to get there in a non conventional way.

The truck race at Eldora is garbage.
So when I lived around Eldora and worked on a modified / late model team that raced there weekly they had the late models run as a secondary non televised class during the first truck race. Dirt late models are 6 seconds faster around Eldora than those trucks, a World of Outlaws…
