My top pick would have to be Dark Souls.

I picked up the game back in college and somehow managed to get everyone in my apartment playing it (despite 2 of them not really gaming much at all). None of us really knew what we were getting into.

Dark Souls got it's hooks into us and before long the Xbox was basically always

That's good to know. I've been eyeing the Vita for a while and that is a pretty huge plus for me. I hope the Vita TV comes out here, I only game at home so it would be amazing for me.

I can't comment on LOS2 but having a weak story that the developers put a lot of work into is often much worse than having a minimalistic story that the developers put very little effort into.

A weak story wastes your time and kills pacing at best and can lead to seriously bad game design choices at worst (see Hitman

"You might make it boy, but by the skin of your teeth" is the perfect summation of Dark Souls. Such a good trailer.

I know right? I find it bizarre that the south is so obsessed with regional pride.

So if the nazi's didn't kill anyone and just stuck to multigenerational forced labor, rape, abuse and systematic destruction of families like they did in the south you would be fine with Germans sticking swastika stickers on cars?

I didn't play Dead Space 3 so I could be wrong about this, but weren't the microtransctions in that for gear? At least for me that is way more egregious than getting a free turn.

I think the biggest factor that makes Bravely Default's micro-transactions a non-issue for me is that you can change the difficulty at will.

There are officially to many good games. Drox Operative, Ikaruga and Banished all came out on steam today. I just bought Bravely Default and Metal Gear Rising has been on my wishlist for far too long. How am I even supposed to pick which of those to play?

If I tagged a game set in the Tang Dynasty as Medieval would you consider that sensible?

You are right that using Medieval in a universal way is pretty eurocentric, that might be why I haven't encountered people outside of the internet that use it in such a broad way. Based off of my extensive 2 seconds of wikipedia

Um no. I never said LOS2 wasn't a Castlevania game, just that it was disappointing in the context of the series. While I tend to be a bit suspicious major changes in play style I don't have a problem with it if the resulting game is just as good as the rest of the series. Metroid Prime was, LOS2 doesn't appear to be.

Excellent. I've been feeling like I shouldn't hate those games because I am a blatant metroidvania fanboy and I assumed that was clouding my judgement.

I think it will be pretty good once the game stops trying to lead you around by the nose all the time.

The "try jumping off" ones always got me. There was always a 10% percent chance there was some awesome secret down there. But you would probably just die horribly.

I guess I've always viewed Medieval as specifically pertaining to Europe. So while Jerusalem is an important part of medieval history because of the Crusades it wouldn't be a medieval setting because it is not part of Europe.

I don't think the history/setting distinction is unreasonable, after all Greece ~480 BC had a

Yeah I got into that whole thing with QCSRK. I think there is a difference between being part of Medieval history and being a Medieval setting. The near east is part of medieval history because of the crusades but that doesn't make it a medieval setting.

In my opinion anyways. I admit it's kinda a pointlessly fine

I suspect Devil May Cry fans feel the same way about it I feel about the new Castlevania games. I played the new LOS2 demo and it was a pretty fun game and if it wasn't a Castlevania game I would probably buy it on steam sale and have a good time. But they are selling it as a Castlevania game so I have to compare it

It might not be the best way to find new games, but it is pretty funny. Bad PC port is one of my new favorites. It's kinda awkward to have that as a recommended category.

That makes sense. I have to confess I've never played the game so I didn't know that basically everyone of significance is European.

I can agree regions involved in the crusades should be considered part of Medieval history because of the level of interaction with the Europeans. However it still seems wrong to

Yeah alot of the tags are extremely misleading, which is troubling.

I think it's just a joke more than anything. Like a way of tricking casuals into playing one of the more notoriously hard games.
