My main issue with this is that this is not about paying artists what they’re worth (for which I am very much in favor). This is about changing the nature and purpose of rights laws to better support large corporations in the changing landscape of the internet.

I have observed this quite often here at Jezebel, and always shake my head at seeing people more outraged at animal abuse than child abuse. Or cry more about dead dogs than dead people. I love my cats, but I’d always place my fellow humans above them - especially fellow small humans.
