In fairness to Gawker, it's worth mentioning that they've had some pretty decent coverage of Venezuela this week while also devoting a fair bit of print space to what's been going down in Kiev (Ukraine).

Uh, no, I don't really think Fox News is listening considering this is jezebel.
Go back and try again, ok?
What an "odd" story angle to choose to cover, timing-wise, while failing to even mention that all hell is — and has been — breaking loose in the streets of Caracas and other Venezuelan cities. Things are pretty dire there right now in terms of political unrest, certainly sufficient to be making international headlines…
Hmm, anything else going on right now in Venezuela?
Dean Richards is a GEM on Facebook and Twitter, for real.
The crew at WGN is hilarious. I don't watch much tv news anymore, but when I do, this is my go-to station. Hey FOX News: this is how you do newscaster personality.
Thanks for sharing LaChetgris.I certainly hope everyone you know is OK. With such a personal connection as yours, maybe you'd want to write something on Groupthink or something? So you can discuss more of those issues in depth?
Um Burt, this is near where i grew up and there's a good chance that i may know/be related to the people involved. I'll be calling my family from up in those parts tomorrow for more information. In the meantime here's the take from the local paper for that part of the country http://www.redding.com/news/2014/feb/… …
It's Burt. She's freelancing from TX and doesn't work in the Gawker office, plus she was a very active commenter and GT mod until her recent intro into writing for the main page. Which is to say, Burt keeps it real. I'm sure it was not unintentional.
Not feeling the adorbs here. She sounds like a pain in the ass.
NPR’s Nina Totenberg has been a political journalist for forty years, and now the iconic journalist is taking a look…
Are you kidding me? I don't even know where to start with you. First of all, she wrote an obituary, which needed to be written in the present. Also, if you think all of this crap doesn't affect someone's present then you certainly have not had to deal with any of this, or, you're in complete denial.
I want to time travel and hug the children you were, and I want to regular travel and shake the hand of the adult you have become.
People who have regular parents...even flawed but slightly normal parents just do not get it and they never will. God bless them. They cant fathom a world where the person who is supposed to be your safe place to fall...the person who is supposed to make everything better...is actually the person you have to protect…
My mother ruined my credit, stole my identity, purchased cars, lit a fire for insurance fraud and blamed it on me, abused me sexually, physically and incredibly emotionally, and killed two of my cats, one in front of me.
Is one person's shitty opinion really considered "insight"??
I can't imagine living life like that. Hearing about something and thinking, "God, I bet people can't wait to know what I think about this."
