This gif sums up my feelings on it...not sure if it will be too spectacular in its campy way...or too campy in its spectacular way...Plus, the big question...can we find fans to watch the premise even 30 years later that aren’t established with it?

The world population growth rate has been declining steadily since the 1960's and is expected to go below 1% by 2020. Population really cannot be considered a runaway problem, contrary to the dire predictions over the past several decades.

It depends on how you look at it. For me, Trek died in 2009, precisely because that movie was a success: it took the Star Trek name, made something that was nothing like Star Trek with it, and then actually sold.

And yet Pegg says they rejected a script for being “Too Star Trek-y.”

It’s the blocky division color stripes on the shoulders I think. Makes it look kind of Star-Lord meets varsity football jacket.

I’m not a huge Trek fan nor a purist, but that jacket Pine is wearing is bothering me. It doesn’t feel Star Trek to me, but more SeaQuest (what I remember from SeaQuest anyway). It’s too “Navy” for my tastes. The rest of the uniforms are fine though.

That’s what everyone seems to like to ignore. If people won’t live responsibly eventually ALL governments will have to control procreation. Either through limits and penalties or abortions and sterilizations.

Given the huge Star Trek fan and fan-film community, I think CBS might really benefit from creating some sort of outreach program to legitimize these in a way that makes them less legally dodgy without looking like the bad guys. In fact, by Star Trek VI, Excelsior had been renumbered to reflect the fact it was an active duty ship and no longer an experiment. The Memory Alpha

Io9 really is turning to shit, isn't it?

NASA performs checks on the spacecraft to see if its ready to shift back into Science Mode (note: this is also Gizmodo’s preferred operating mode).

“We Finally Know Why the North Pole Is Moving East”

That.... actually sounds like a pretty good idea.

Replace him with Benedict Cumberbatch, amirite?

interesting point. i bet if you graph a venn diagram with people who ready Watchmen and enjoyed the movie, they would favorably like BvS. In contrast, if you enjoyed Age of Ultron, you’re likely to not like BvS.

The Watchmen is the key to understanding BvS-

Gotta say, this news kills it for me. I was hoping for the original castmembers, but definitely Warburton, that character was practically made to be played by him. My enthusiasm just dovetailed.

Spidey’s eyes...WTF. Awesome, but...WTF.
