You’re not wrong. Care taking is undervalued and under paid and anyone with young kids is subjected to inconsistent quality of caregivers. Working for a living is hard enough without worrying if someone will threaten your kids with spiders and zip ties.

And campus child care is supposed to be the best of the best too. I have no answers but there has GOT to be a better way.

Maybe they are the assholes who took the job for the summers off? Like, my local In-N-Out pays around $28k per year and you never have to talk to a kid. Maybe go zip tie a few bags of buns and leave toddlers out of it?

I’m glad you got out and I hope you like what you’re doing now. I never worked with kids again because it didn’t turn out to be my strong suit. Maybe we start having people do what they are good at? Perhaps digging holes to nowhere for those zip tying assholes?

Agree! As much as teachers needs to be better respected and compensated, pre school teachers need it too. They are so vulnerable and people who are willing to do the job well should get aaalll of the money.
