Middle school English teacher, here. Tides are turning in my profession. My colleagues and I are reading two books about this very thing: Readicide and Disrupting Thinking.

Hey, Nolan, thank you. I appreciate seeing something about my home state that isn’t some horrible, gleeful variation of “how can they be so STUPID?” or “bet those redneck Trump supporters are mad at themselves now!”

My parents live in the northwestern part of the state. Right down the block from their house, a neighbor has a giant Confederate flag flying. It’s so gross.

They also defaulted to sneering contempt for the people there. You can only mock and condescend so long.

I’m from WV. I’m a certified teacher in TX, currently. My parents, two aunts, uncle, and cousin all work for the school system in WV.

My father’s people are from Mercer Co. Princeton, specifically. My uncle worked at that pizza place for years and years. It was good pizza! The bible class is blowing up my Facebook on the daily. Most of my father’s side of the family are proud, radical leftists (my great-grandfather was a coal-mining union man), but

Why on earth would you expect “those people” (MY PEOPLE, you ass) to vote otherwise when the contempt from your side has been fairly dripping for years?

Yeah. It’s the afterlife I want to be real, if any of them have to be.

I live in her old Houston neighborhood and know people who attended HSPVA (the HISD magenet high school) with her. She isn’t lying about her age.

I liked the OA. It was good Xmas break binge-watching while folding endless mountains of laundry. Maybe this is a weird comment, but watching that show was the first time I felt any appreciation for, well, interpretive dance. Something about the movements was a joy to watch.

That was also my immediate thought.

Yup. I posted above about my ex’s family court antics above. The first time I got legal fees awarded, it was a straight up contempt case. He didn’t pay child support for two and a half years. He was shocked that not only did he have to pay, but he had to pay my lawyer, too. Ever since, whenever he sues me (all the

Yup. I’ve been in family court litigation with a narcissist for almost three years now. He files and files and files. I’m forced by the court to have more contact with him now than I had when we were living under the same roof (he was a stonewaller/withholder). He can file any goddamn thing he wants “in the best

As a Slytherin, I object to this. Gryffindor is more the mayhem house.

I got a dappled grey mare.

Oh, really? I’m more of the opinion that representation matters. Are you aware that 95% of YA fiction that features people on the cover show distinctly white characters? I don’t think my students are the problem.

Middle school teacher, here. I’m happy with the lead actress choice. I love this book so very much, but my students (inner-city, almost entirely minorities) aren’t interested in a book featuring the whitest-looking white folks on the cover that was written so long ago.

Not at all typical, definitely not the formulaic, disposable love triangle nonsense. I do the first book as a read-aloud with my 8th grade students, and they’re always captivated from the very beginning. The trilogy is one of my most-requested books from my classroom library (I keep multiple copies), and for books as

ARGH. My foundation is sold out. No discount for me. I love the new water foundation so much.

I have heard report after report of him assaulting fans at shows. Like, punching people in the face without provocation. I’ve also heard numerous reports of him meeting fans and immediately mocking them (“No amount of makeup can cover that fat”). I don't know anything about the allegations of racism, though.
