reading these i was reminded of one trip... we did really not do summer vacations, my sisters were all in university by the time i was 4 years old. they had done thhose when they were kids and my parents were still married. but when i was about 10 years old, we did go on a camping/canoeing trip for 2 weeks up in…
this thing makes me think that it is the 21st century equivalent of 2CV, except instead of two farmers and a sack of potatoes it’s one jason and an old tv listening to dolly parton. :D
i have seen that AG painting in real life, it lives up to its reputation. she is my favorite from that time period. the sister painting to that one is in the detroit institute of arts, not as bloody but striking nonetheless. :)
is this their primary means of detection? since a majority of cases are probably asmyptomatic, are they only trying to catch people that are knowingly sick? full scale testing would be the best method, but this is not in place?
here you go... the distribution of dead in france, as of today. 0.5% of deaths for men, ages 30-39. not too bad, i suppose. but i guess the problem is since you are not immune, even at 30, i certainly hope you do not pass it to your parents or grandparents. being that they would be in that higher mortality range...

yeah, i am in Var departement, on the sea, i think that is why it is tickling my familiarity organ. :)
ah, thanks! not that far from me, next departement over. funny how i can sometimes recognize the terrain, i think it is the “maquis”, the vegetation (?) mediterranean that gets my attention.
good thing that road is closed off, because that is a two way road. bad enough with ordinary driving, it’s terrible when the tourists drive and think that it is one way. we drive fast enough on french roads like that as is... i have even tapped side mirrors with another car, both of us probably going around 60km/h…

my mom used to say “sometimes, people are just dumb!” which is funny since she was the old school, polite type that hardly ever said anything not nice about someone. if she couldn’t say something nice, she would not say anything. :)
we are entering our 7th (8th?) week of lockdown here in france. luckily it is an example of better than average national lockdown and we have had pretty good results to show for it. it is expected to begin to be lifted on may 11th. my wife is a grade school teacher, so she does most schoolwork online, but has to go in…
how is hummer not on this list? :D
this movie always reminds me of being in udaipur india where some of it was filmed. they showed the movie every night on the rooftop resaurants. also makes me remember racing moto-rickshaws down from the monsoon palace. :D
i cannot remember one for me at this moment, but i have a childhood memory of another kid that sticks out. i do not remember much of my elementary school years, parent’s divorce etc, kind of blanked them out. but i remember one thing from second grade, this one kid with her peculiar habit. her name was sarah, and she…
