Honestly, I gotta agree with Shabaab. The core gameplay is really fun, *especially* once you open several powers from your chosen class. The problem with Outriders isn’t really the gameplay itself but the various early release bugs that left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth. 

Honestly, I’d bet dollars to donuts that it was intended to be. But after the high profile failures of Anthem and Avengers, it was probably too late for PCF to make substantial changes. Hence the “It’s *totally* not a live service game you guys *nudge nudge wink wink say no more eh?*!”

They added full voice acting (the original release had no voice acting at all), and I wouldn’t be surprised if they retranslated things while they were at it.

Honestly, it’s the sheer amount of range attacks combined with the fact that it’s hard to see in the chaos of battle that makes it such a nightmare. But the early reports of the changes are promising, as it seems to have been made much more manageable. 

Which is a shame, since it’s actually a pretty fun game. The voice work is really good, particularly among Kamala Khan (Sandra Saad), Bruce Banner (Troy Baker), and Tony Stark (Nolan North), who all play off each other extremely well. And they do a good job of distinguishing the different characters in battle…

For me, it’s Ms. Marvel. Watching Kamala embiggen and do an elbow drop on those annoying Dreadbots never fails to make me smile. Really, they did a great job utilizing her stretchyness. 

I’ll be happy as long as they properly fixed the goddamn range attack spam. It’s a fucking nightmare, and keeps the combat system from properly shining.
