Shark-laser-nado?!?!
Shark-laser-nado?!?!
In a situation where you have a tournament seeding locked up and the outcome of a final pre-tournament game won’t change that seeding, I’ve got no problems with a coach playing all non-starters to give them experience and not risk starter injuries in a meaningless game. The rules even specifically reference that this…
Currently, the best vehicle for paying for college for your kids are state 529 college savings plans. There is a tried and true strategy for these that maximizes their benefit and minimizes their harm. If your child is planning on going for a 4 year undergraduate degree, the most money savvy approach is as follows:
The end of the Tri-Jets can be boiled down to two significant events: The first was the development of the second generation of large, high-bpass turbo fan engines and their exceedingly low failure rates. The second was the FAA’s granting of ETOPS for over-water flight by twins (Extended Twin-engine OPerationS). They…
As was made public after Katrina and in a few more recent border events,
DHS already maintains a fleet of UAVs for surveillance work. These frames have FAR higher hours on them than DHS’s birds and would be an expensive albatross around their neck.
There was a late life upgrade for the 727s that replaced the 1&3 engines with a later model of the same jt8 engines that has a bigger fan and higher bypass ratio, making them more efficient. They couldn’t replace the middle one as the ductwork isn’t large enough to allow it. It makes it look a lot more normal.
Low bypass turbojets are deceptively small. You’re so used to seeing medium bypass turbofans on the super 80s that these just don’t seem right.
My father was a mechanic for Delta airlines during the era of the Convair 880. He got to ride jumpseat more than a few times and had many conversations with the pilots. The Convair 880 was absolutely designed to be faster in cruise than its competition, and while achieving that goal, it wasn’t able to achieve the…
I believe the point being made is that the Aircraft in the picture is pre-conversion. In the picture, its still just a 744. Now, its got Evergreen Livery and its officially a 747-400BCF because it was converted for freight use.
I yield to your claim it will fit in an absolute sense. That it can technically be made to fit never made it suitable for mass production. That is my point. Plus, having looked up the numbers, the weight difference is over 100 lbs. 100 more lbs for a naturally aspirated 4.6l isn’t a great trade from the aj 3.9l,…
Just that it was not feasible for production with that engine package.
Are we sure that this is the 4v?
The line it was built on required that powertrains go in from the bottom.
That had to go in from above... and has to have taller motor mounts than the 3.9l.
It looked like a scaled down mn12 when the body work was all off.
While bare block dimensions seem to allow the 4.6l 2v to fit, in reality, you couldn’t plumb the exhaust for the front half of the engine without tearing up the suspension. The 4v heads are WAY to big to fit. The 3v heads would have barely fit as they were more compact than the 2v, but they didn’t come slong until…
Front clip clearance issues. The only active v8 in ford of north america at the time was the mod v8 family in short deck 4.6l and tall deck 5.4l sizes. The ohc 2v heads were very large, the 4v heads were gigantic. The compact 3v heads hadn’t been developed yet.
VERY loosely... Rear floor pan and gas tank are all that wasn’t significantly changed.
Well, the gas tank and rear floor pan did...
Largely, this.
