I mean, at its core, an NFT is a non-duplicatable ID. It can be used for tickets, ownership licenses, and much more. The space is extremely early and has only been under serious development for maybe 2 years.
That’s actually not true. There’s a variety of file storage blockchains (like siacoin) and many NFTs are using IPFS as their hosting.
“Will the entity running the SQL database decide to shut it down likely within 5 years?” -> yes -> “should have used blockchain”
Uh yes you do get royalties, some are programmed to return a percentage of resale (including income from other projects) and return it to holders.
You couldn’t pay me to take Amtrak again. The one time I used it (as a broke college student) the train arrived 4 hours late to the pickup and turned a 5 hour drive into a 10 hour train ride in seats just as uncomfortable as Basic Economy in a plane.
Forgot things like automatic membership to other projects (i.e. a recent cNFT gives exclusive access to a data analytics platform their building for cardano), royalties, voting rights in DAOs, etc etc etc. NFTs aren’t just useless art...
The only thing I’ve ever seen Hugh Grant in is The Undoing on HBO...so I have trouble picturing him as anything other than a sociopathic monster.
With a grand total of 4 (fairly well known) tips in here...I’m very surprised this wasn’t a slideshow to maximize ad views...
I mean the answer is pretty obvious... remote presence with other people, overlaying useful information on the real world, etc.
Pretty sure this “article” is just a minimum effort attempt to generate ad revenue...
Am I the only one extremely disappointed by this? We got some DLC and a bunch of generic looking jrpg type games... maybe Ghostwire Tokyo looks decent but the rest looks like generic crap...even Trek to Yomi while stylish...just looks like “yet another side scrolling fighter game” just like Mark of the Ninja all those…
Since discussion on all new posts is turned off, for anyone wondering what’s going on:
Appears I’ve been banished to the greys after many years here...I wonder if it has to do with posting things like how the GMG Union is on strike right now...
I guess AV Club isn’t part of the GMG Union?
