Also, this is the next-gen generation. The more power these machines have, the less excuses you can make. I can understand the 8-bit, or 64 polygon era, but saying something is not "technically" possible these days. To mean that screams lazy, especially if you have 9 development teams, talented, hardworking artists

That's a ridiculous statement. Should we beat on games like Mirror's Edge for not having a male option? Or how about Mario, for not always being able to play as Peach? The sheer suggestion that all games must have both genders as playable characters is to undermine the idea that some games have narratives that are

No kidding, pageants do not celebrate the "average."

Do people really expect beauty pageants to reflect "average"?

Necessary work? Why? If it was necessary, it would mean that not doing it would have some kind of backslash..

If video games are art, and I believe they are, why should they have any regulations like that? It's bizarre that people like you are out there effectively demanding a censorship board to ban games that don't live up to your arbitrary standards.

It IS too much work.

Oh, fuck, the latest *insert famous director* movie ALMOST had a female lead, but they decided to cater to the target demographic. Also they elected only to make the male-lead version of the movie.

It doesn't have to be a cost if the return on investment of time and money isn't worth it. Making the world look better benefits everyone. Making a female character for a small portion of consumers is no where near the same category.

Yes. But that's because the market is unfavorable to cutting those animations. You'll notice that the market takes white straight male (in the US) as the default just fine.

I'm sorry, but re doing the entire story is TOO MUCH FUCKING WORK.

True, but Watchdogs (from the same publisher) did come out with no splash animation for the guns fired in water, weird "alternate reality" reflections in the windows of buildings, and black panels beneath the car models (among other flaws). All of this as a result of "too much work" in order to deliver the game on

How would replacing a male character model with a female character model change the point of view? The dialogue would remain the same, as would the story. They're need to drastically re-write the story for a female point of view in a given historical setting as it's usually extremely different from a male point of

Not every game is an RPG where you choose your character's gender and race. Are we upset that Bayonetta stars Bayonetta, or that the Last of Us didn't allow us to create our own main character? Some stories have a clear protagonist and story-arc in mind. Sometimes that protagonist is a male, sometimes it's a woman.

I'm outraged because they didn't include any robosexuals in the game. I'm sure they are on an agenda with the church to make robosexuality look bad in the eyes of other people. We are just normal people like you and demand that you regard us as same and include us as majority in every game!

And the fact that this has now been upgraded to a "controversy" boggles my mind.

It makes me a little sad that this is going to be the tin can people beat on for the next few years when there are many more relevant issues in the gaming industry.

anyone who's masturbated after doing too much cocaine knows extended contraction of muscles + dehydration is a sure shot to muscle cramps

I wouldn't call it a "threat", it's another option. That's what the PC is all about. Options.
