I've always like Hotmail and have been with it since 1997 (with the same email address). I rarely access my Hotmail through the web browser and instead use the Windows Live Mail program. The website is pretty good too when you upgrade it to the outlook.com look and feel.

Why launch a phone OS without the hardware you need to actually use it? You can't buy the Phone OS on it's own, so a launch is useless unless something is actually launched that people can purchase.
