I’ve worked in clinics that provide abortions for years. We regularly see women who picket our clinics, who are ABSOLUTELY SURE they want their abortion but are also ABSOLUTELY SURE yours should be illegal.

Scenario: Someone grabs you on the street and hooks you up to life support for another person. That person needs your blood to survive so you are literally pumping nutrients into them 24/7. It makes you ill and weak. Your captors tell you that you have to remain connected, no matter what it takes, for the next ten

There is physical damage done to the mother by the pregnancy. Pregnancies come with risk of complications and death. Abortion can be considered self-defense. What about the right to life of the mother?

Do you think that every person who doesn’t donate a kidney to the 2 million people who need one to live is a murderer? No? Why not? Because you understand, intuitively, that no one has the obligation to use their body to provide life support to someone else. It’s called autonomy.

“It would be unethical to allow women to have elective abortions at 32 weeks and beyond.” I get that. Killing is inherently ethically complicated. Killing a fetus that is, essentially, no different than a baby that has been born, is unethical, in its way.

Preach. Language matters. They aren’t “pro-life”, and fetuses aren’t “pre-born babies” for fuck sake.

I love the emphasis on “unborn” here. Cause once you are born, well then fuck you. Mississippi has some of the highest illiteracy rates, lowest life expectancy, most unhealthy people, etc in the COUNTRY. They can’t be bothered with social programs that help the people already in this world live safe, healthy lives.

Remember Romania? Dangerous, back-alley, abortions continued.

I’ve worked in clinics that provide abortions for years. We regularly see women who picket our clinics, who are ABSOLUTELY SURE they want their abortion but are also ABSOLUTELY SURE yours should be illegal. They often come alone and we hold their hands when requested because they do not have a support person. They’re

I can’t understand how another woman could be against abortion.

Part of it is because they want think if you have sex you should be prepared to accept the consequences, but they have to admit a rape victim didn’t have any part in this decision.

Obviously they will call all of the “life of the mother” stuff actually “health of the mother” and refuse to let her qualify until she is on the verge of dying at which point intervening is way riskier.

No wealthy woman will feel the impact of this law: no affluent Republican woman, including the wives, daughters, mistresses, girlfriends, and one night stands of pro-life Republican politicians, will feel the impact of this law.

I want Mississippi to be the safest worst place in America for an unborn child women.

I never understood how people can claim to believe abortion is murder and then support exceptions for rape and incest. It’s either murder or it’s not. Saying it’s ok in cases of rape or incest just makes it clear you just want to punish women for having sex willingly, does it not?

Re the photo. I can’t understand how another woman could be against abortion. I just can’t. How can you not intuitively know that your physical autonomy, comfort and freedom of movement is more important than an embryo or fetus. I accept that pre-born babies are alive, and human. But how can you not understand the

get yourself an instapot mini duo. just right for one or two people.

I usually scoff at these gimmicky appliances, especially as my life forces me to be somewhat minimalist in terms of cookery. But my aunt made the most fucking amazing ribs any of us had ever tasted in this little thingamajig in a half hour. They were dripping off the bone.

I’ve been reading The Story of Jane, about the women’s collective in Chicago that helped women find abortions before Roe v. Wade, and I was really inspired by the clergy who worked with the women to fight for abortion access. I just wanted to share this quote from a baptist minister in the book: “Certainly the

Agree with this, and am wondering whether the committee is only starting with Northern Ireland as it is a European country. There are many countries with penalties every bit as harsh as this, and in which women have been imprisoned for even miscarriages. I wonder whether further countries shall be named.
