I couldn’t agree more. There’s a difference between being college-student broke, and being in poverty. And this isn’t the 70’s. People can’t work the summer, switch to part time in the fall, graduate with no debt, and land a job right away like their parents did.

“The best way to fix being poor is to make more money...”

My grandfather was like that. When he was hired at the local retirement home he started at $13/h with benefits. He was there for close to 30 years. No formal education, learned everything on the job, never had to worry about having enough hours because he was full time 8am-4pm from the day he started.

Or they have, but because they “made it” they think anyone who doesn’t is lazy.

I was making chili sauce one evening after putting my daughter went to bed, and fell asleep at the kitchen table. Woke up to a scorched pot and a huge batch ruined. I cried on my kitchen floor and was mad at myself for days afterwards. I’d spent money on something frivolous and not only did I screw it up, I’d ruined

You start making money, you get cut off. Except that what you’re making doesn’t cover your expenses because half your pay is now going towards daycare, so you can’t make your rent, and it starts all over again.

I have an odd body shape so even regular shopping is a huge pain in the ass. With thrift shopping I’m lucky if I can find one thing my boobs don’t pop out of, that isn’t covered in sequins or trashy looking.

Bike 12km in 15 minutes when it’s 30c or -30c, then we’ll talk.

I know people that receive welfare and could likely get a min wage job if they applied. Do you know why they don’t? It’s not because they’re lazy or because hey want a free ride, it’s because that Min wage job wouldn’t cover their rent and daycare, so it’s welfare and apartment, or work and be homeless.

I love the bike argument!

The only apartment I’ve ever rented was above a little family owned restaurant. If I knew we were going to be late wih he rent, I’d go down and talk to Dan in person. Not only was he good about it, but I’d usually come back upstairs with a couple of specials on the house.

Yes but you either wait three times longer or pay through the nose

What a pie? I can do that

Shipping is free? Not in butt fuck Ontario it isnt

It’s like saying “don’t buy clothes, get a cheap sewing machine and watch some youtube... bam! New wardrobe!”

Sorry but no. I’m not good with anything mechanical. I can change a tire, but fucking up the brakes on my car is not worth the risk.

I couldn’t let it go. Had to debate until I got booted lol

If you don’t mind the stains and the smell, yeah sometimes

I spent my Sunday making applesauce and washing dishes.
