Orion can only be launched by SLS. Thus SLS still has a purpose. That’s a necessary justification NASA needs to get this plan through Congress.
SpaceX doesn’t mind because they get NASA dollars to fund what they were going to do anyway. (Plus if lunar Starship is carrying crew, then NASA has to give their seal of…
1. A couple of caveats. Lunar Starship will only tank once. It will tank with a fuel depot that has been filled over time with tankers.
2. Lunar Starship will only launch once depot is full. So minimizing risk of being stranded by delayed fuel launches.
3. Design goal for starship tanker variant is 150 tons /…
Any emergency locks that need software should be a non-starter.
You can have two right now. Everything except the compact power source. See the youtube videos other people have posted.
The Desert Eagle pistol is neither a desert nor an eagle.
The frustrating part of reading this is that the “experts” did no research.
In Star Wars lore, the lightsaber is a plasma ejected from the center, controlled by magnetic fields in to a “u” shape, and recollected by the surrounding disk.
The interact and block each other due to the strong magnetic fields.
Only the last…
Falcon heavy has 27 engines. SpaceX has already solved the multiple engine control issue.
lol. I’m so far out of my knowledge base here! I honestly don’t know. Maybe you can read the articles and post again with those answers.
Not being a jerk at all. I seriously don’t know and would like you to explain it to me. Genuinely curious.
Look at it this way.
- My kids are 16,14, 8 years old (boys are 16,14).
- We’ve been to Disney 2x.
- We are all huge SW fans.
- Everyone is kind of done with Disney World.
- We do a big vacation every 2 years or so.
- Every big vacation is going to cost at $5k for five people at least. (our last vacation was disney +…
We didn’t stay in a Disney branded resort the last time either, because it was about $500 / night for a family of 5. But, since the SW experience is a branded hotel, you have to compare apples to apples.
The Princess dinner was a dinner inside Cinderella’s castle with all the princesses. It was not cheap (I don’t…
The below is for the M3 Performance, but I’d expect Plaid to be better:
Even more impressive and true to Tesla’s word, the Plaid is capable of posting those times consistently, never varying by more than a fraction of a second or so each time we rocketed down the strip. We’ve never tested a car so robotic in its consistency.
The government agency that was giving the demonstration was pretty gaga over Starlink. They showed me two other milspec systems first. The first had a $120k antenna, the second had a $300k antenna. Starlink was blowing both of those systems out of the water. Plus the setup for Starlink was much easier.
They were still…
Just witnessed a government test today. Speeds multiples of ookla with no drops. Report was that early on, they would get multiple drops a day.
Now though, the speed just dips with no total drops. Interestingly, the “low” dip number was close to the speed ookla is touting.
One caveat, the government price was also a…
I don’t know how many of you have taken your kids to Disney lately, but $6k is not a lot relatively.
A three day hopper pass for a family of 5 is going to cost $1500+. And that does not include meals or a room. A resort room for 2 days is going to cost another $1k easy, and probably another $1k in meals.
Throw in a…
Ditto. I was unimpressed when I saw the first 3's with that screen. I had the S at the time, and really loved the dual screens and vertical main screen layout.
Not an Lidar expert, but I don’t think that Lidar can detect the color of a traffic light.
You get the same problem as radar, which is why Tesla went single source (vision). That problem is when two different sources disagree, which one do you trust?
In this example, the camera would detect a yellow stoplight. The lidar…
But that’s not really what you are doing. You are really maintaining awareness and foreseeing when the car may have difficulty. It takes a little while, but it gets easier.
Overall, I use FSD (and regular autopilot in my wife’s car) much more than not.
As with anything, you get used to it. You learn what the car can handle easily and when you need to be more on alert. Overall, you get comfortable sitting back and monitoring the car, which is really relaxing.
You do not realize how much energy you spend on even the mundane parts of driving such as maintaining a…
