Wouldn't the minute loss of momentum from the outside star happen gradually, causing the orbit of the inner planet to also decay gradually? Use of Weapons was never boring, but I thought the big reveal at the end was weak. Maybe it's because of a decade of Fight Club, Sixth Sense, Shutter Island, and others, but I just felt the payoff wasn't dearly worth the build-up.

You can't bring nukes into space. There are no bans on conventional weapons. Also, anyone that can orbit a satellite and who has a nuke can execute a High atmosphere Electro-Magnetic Pulse (HEMP) and take out a lot of satellites. There's a lot of countries with that capability.
