Where was the spoiler warning? I would have liked to see the movie and judeged it myself...but now you have ruined the ending. Thank you. I guess if you hate a movie it is your job to make sure no one else sees it. Unbelievable.

Wow, every one of my choices (except Empire) is currently behind in the voting. I must be getting crazy old.
Well, autopilots are not necessarily more predictable. Maybe on land, but not in rough seas. I've seen the computer do some absolutely crazy things in close. As an LSO, I've had to tell pilots to cut off the Mode I before landing.
Because the system has to be designed to survive a lot of trips. Which adds weight...a lot of it. Plus you add in the costs of refurbishing the shuttle and boosters, and you can see how the price adds up.
Their website cites 5+2 seating, like willyolio said. This has been consistent for the last couple of years.
Letting unmanned aircraft land on a carrier is not the problem. F-18's (all types) can already land without the pilot touching the controls at all. It's called a Mode I approach.
I loved Children of Men, but the fly was absolutely groundbreaking when it came out. I would say The Fly had much more of an impact on sci-fi movies.
It was enjoyable enough. It wasn't like I was expecting Citizen Kane when I sat down to watch it. Plus Laura Flynn Boyle is like crazy hot.
Nope still terrifying. Man, do I have the heebie creepies right now.
Nope, the extra bomb was an excuse used to justify the decision. The real motivation (and arguement) was to find and hopefully rescue the other crew.
"Hollywood hasn't delivered good space horror since Sunshine"
I hope this migrates to navy pilots soon. We are still forced to use paper pubs...we can't even use the electronic flight bags yet. Crashing shouldn't be too much of a problem. During the critical phases of flight, (take-off and landing) modern aircraft are usually on either gps (which has its own display integral…
How about Nobel prize winning Dr. Barry Marshall? To prove that a certain bacteria caused stomach ulcers, he drank a solution of bacteria, gave himself an ulcer, and then used anti-biotics to cure himself. His work overturned decades of conventional wisdom on the cause and treatment of ulcers.
The U.S. actually has abundant stockpiles of rare earth minerals. It just doesn't have the refining capacity to exploit them. Refining the minerals isn't exactly eco-friendly, so it is not cost effective for companies to build and operate these factories in the U.S. As China cuts exports and the price rises, it…
Not the same problem. Remember, anti-ship missiles and theater ballistic missiles will be launched at tens, maybe hundreds of miles away. They are not going to carry their own payloads of sand. You can use decoys, true, but a laser can quickly kill and switch to another target. Also, every "protection" you put on…
The lasers make a very effective defense against waves of small boat threats as well. And boats can carry a lot more armor than an airborne threat.
Anti-ship missiles have terminal maneuvers that make it almost impossible to intercept with other missiles or bullets. And Anti-ship / Theater Ballistic missiles are too fast. Lasers are the only viable defense against those kinds of threats.
