Right there with you. On the first viewing, I left a little underwhelmed. The second time around I was able to enjoy it on its own merits, without the burden of expectations, and enjoy it I did.
The issue is that Rey doesn’t seem to have a learning curve. Any time she faces any kind of adversity, she develops a talent or ability on the spot that allows her to overcome it. This didn’t really bug me though, as it’s clear from the get-go that there’s more to her than meets the eye. Heck, even she is surprised…
