"game-illiterate"

Games being put on portables on Japan isn't a risk; it's quite the opposite. It's easier to develop for, it requires a smaller budget, standards for what is worth buying isn't as high, the requirement for a 'success' sales-wise is lower, and it has the largest player base meaning the highest potential sales. You can't

Your dick must be diamonds waiting for the next WoW expansion to come out.

It's not like this is anything new for EA and their PR machine. Criticism about Bioware? You're a bully and you hate women. Criticism about Mass Effect 3 pre-launch? You're homophobic. Criticism about Mass Effect 3 day-1 DLC? Entitled.

The demand, at the very least, is for cheaper games or games with more content and replay value. It doesn't matter about blah blah inflation, blah blah bigger budgets, blah blah blah. The point is that the consumer, the people buying the games, don't feel they're getting enough for what they're paying. It doesn't

You know, if you want our marketing information you should be more subtle about it. Or offer rewards. Everyone loves rewards and it's gamey.

If people don't see it as worth keeping then the developers failed and they have to face the consequences. It should be based on merit, not DRM. We shouldn't be coddling developers and publishers at the expense of consumers, especially when the industry has never been more successful. I bought Vanquish new and I think

"Like those games you hear about that may be good, the first impulse is to buy them used rather than new."

Once upon a time those indie games would be released as freeware or shareware. Sales are sales. Sales are not MSRP. It could just as easily not go down. The decline over time is a good thing, you're right, and it can spur more purchases but that has nothing to do with the lack of used game sales or what Dyack is

What I'm saying is that why don't other developers try to cultivate that same sense of brand loyalty based on the quality of the product? That good games should be rewarded but poor and mediocre games with an enormous marketing budget shouldn't. I'm aware of how expensive old Nintendo games are, I even make mention of

If we can't stop them from misusing the word we'll just run it into the ground instead.

Normal PC game prices are still $50. Maybe console ports that are months or years old are $40. The only way that the average is brought down is because there are more $10-15 indie games. That's like saying HD console games aren't $60 because of PSN/Marketplace games. Mainstream titles? Things have only gotten worse.

"Game makers want those sales back."

No used games on PC hasn't convinced major publishers and developers, the ones most likely to suffer from used game sales, to switch over to PC. Nevermind PC exclusives, PC doesn't even get some multiplatform games.

I wish we had Savage 2 style Commander feature in BF3. You know, instead of them removing the feature entirely.

Gamers have low standards and are quick to make excuses for corporations. We're in an abusive relationship.

"So a dull gears of war clone with some dialog constitutes "awesome gameplay" thesedays?"

The only reason people aren't complaining about things like the bad animation, the bad textures, revised dialogue circle, etc. is because the ending is so colossally bad that it eclipsed every other issue, even the problems with the other parts of the story. We're all too busy sorting out the clusterfuck of an ending

Maybe if we're talking about PC only. Maybe.

"Totally agree. Nintendo is really one bad system launch away from being in a very tough spot."
