LARP fighting isn't all that effective from everything I've seen of it, but yes, as a lower case G geek who trains in western martial arts now, I suppose many of us will have some skills and if we band together, we'll make it. :)

Having a sword and knowing how to use it are very different things, as I have learned over the last year. So geeks who take martial arts to use after the bullets run out will rebuild society, and quote Bruce Lee a lot, I hope. "Be water, my friend."
A sword fighting game with realistic western martial arts is great,ut even better is learning it for real. Okay I can't actually hack into the flesh of my classmates for real, but there's more adrenaline from putting on the mask and facing off against a real person with a training sword than a game can bring.
Free to play and then paying for extras? That seems fine for other games but this is a permanent-death game and it will only lead to chaos in the bean wars zones along the coast, which aren't even about beans anymore. I dropped ten dollars on this awesome DMR so I can snipe people when I spawn! *bangbangbangbang* "You…
Makes sense. Guilt free extermination of former humans to save the remnants of humanity. Now please excuse me while I go play some DayZ.
I could use that Eco-skeleton, and you are right this is the best place to find like minded and creative individuals. Loneliness be gone! I hope. ;)
I have seven years to find a husband before my risk level increases. Time to get back in the dating game and reduce my chance of cardiovascular disease. The keeping the husband will be easy, it's just the finding that's been the challenge. Someone needs to be the to find me when I decide to hop down the last few steps…
People, do remember, that telling Mike what he's done might not last or finding fault with it is, well, silly. One thing no one ever takes into account is that we're all different. What is working for Mile will lead him to do more to keep himself healthy. I think that's clear from the article.
Most six shooters took a horrendous amount of time to reload as well. But now we're getting off the topic of swords, a topic I hold dear and near, and hold properly when practicing.
I like the game the way it is and want it to expand from ere. I am hoping Bohemia will run with it in a style of what it is and Rocket can turn it over and then focus in the hardcore mode. I know people. I have been playing online games since someing called Infinity Complex (Q Commie was reformatted by an M2Laser) and…
It has to get oiled properly and repaired, stored the right way, but it can last if it is treated like a treasure. You need to know how to do it. I couldn't do it, for example. I know it can be done, but not the exact details for oiled cloth or sand cleaning or all of that.
Real, gritty, practical western martial arts. It's been my new athletic activity for nearly a year. My art, hobby, passion, and I get to stand up and say "yes, Hollywood is all wrong" but when we think about it, entertainment and reality are different. If real sword fighting were on the screen, fight scenes would be…
We know our places. And the professional is being a bit mean. He's not the only one reviving and teaching the proper art from the manuals. He's just the best known.
Yep, some of us do. Some of us are students of what those old manuals teach. And it is a wonderful thing. Except for that side lunge counter with the rapier. Ow my knee! ;)
They'd be the nobles who had the preserved war gear passed down for generations. Nothing wrong with an old roman shirt of mail if it is maintained with the care and respect the Scandinavian people would give to such items. Looks a bit strange but is as accurate as anything else.
It's close, but I haven't done a lot of sword and shield yet so I couldn't say for sure. They would be well equipped Vikings for the time. If you really want to be confused by blurred action, watch some sabre fencing on YouTube. A very different form of fighting that might not be effective for real combat but wow,…
We can hope they get the option for oil lamps/molotovs and melee weapons. Having an SKS with bayonete option would be good replacement for the Enfield.
Well limiting the gameplay in a way that kills alternate play styles is going to shrink the player base. There's a thread about hw it's not realistic to start with a pistol so people should have to find a first gun. We all know what this means. Grifters will just chase new spawns and kill them for beans. And then the…
The are no melee weapons in DayZ. It's not part of ArmA so it's not in the game. And I prefer the LED because I know I'd knock over the oil lamp and burn down the entire forest. Yes on the machete. Very important. And rope. Lots of good rope.
Camping is a fabulous thing, you are right about everyone needing to take time to do it. I might bring a solar powered LED fixture, though, but not guns and field dressing bandages and road flares. ;)
