that doesn’t mean that serve and volley won’t work, it only means that it might work a bit less than it did before. it will still work more than never developing a net game.

one other thing - Federer was not the top seed at the 2009 French Open (Rafa was), my original point was this US Open draw was the easiest in the open era for a top seed at a Grand Slam. just to be clear.

Federer, at the FO in 2009, had to beat Tommy Haas (a former world number 2, coming back from 2-0 sets down); Gael Monfils (11); and JMDP (5) also in five. not really the same thing as Rafa’s cake draw at the US Open this year, in my opinion.
